Well, our FLGS is getting a Fantasy group going. We're going to start with an escalation league with painting/playing 500pts per month. So....

I picked Empire. My first 500pts is going to consist of 1 Unit of Swordsman with a Swordsman Detachment, 1 unit of Knights, a mounted warrior priest for a general, and a cannon.

I figure this gives me a good run on how my overall army is going to run since my overall plan is to add more of the same as our group gets going.

I'm basing my army on the Knights of Malta, so we'll see how things go.

Here's my inspirational pic, followed by my wip (they'll have heads eventually. . . )

Good times. I'll get back to the orks eventually, but I'm taking a break as I'm not going to get them finished for the 'Ard Boys and will just run my Deathwing instead.

Thanks for looking!

Well, this project took the back burner until the last two weeks. Really tried to get everything ready for our 500pt escalation tourney this week.

So, it's tonight! And this is what I'm bringing:

Consists of Captain w/Meteroic Armor, Icon of Magnus, Great Weapon, pistol
19 Swordsmen with Full Command
1 Detachment of Handgunners

Unit of Handgunners with Marksman and Repeater Handgunner

Hellblaster Cannon

And my 100pt Champion is:

Captain w/ "Hammer" of Fate, Full plate, and Shield.

Not my best work, and the hand-gunners will take on the green sleeve/legging, but I wanted to distinguish them for now.

C&C always welcome.

And they don't look like Malta anymore either. I'll need a new name . . . .

That's a LOT of red. .

The banner for the Swordsmen looks pretty good, and the flesh colors for the priest looks great.

My one criticism is that all the colors are too warm. I feel like there could be a lot gained by adding more silvers to your palette.

Good to see another WFB PBlog, though.

This is a cool army! I, too, am doing an army based (VERY loosely) on the Knights of Malta (although an earlier, more Mediaeval feel, rather than the true Rennaissance look you are going for). Mine are also black and white, rather than the red and white.

But, as I say - great army, always good to see more Empire people and wonderful to see Catholic imagery inspiring something more than the Inquisition!

You should do some greatswords - I have a cool tutorial on how to make them from spare Empire Knight parts and plastic milita pieces; they look more heavilly-armored that way!

My Captain model is one of the old metal Greatswords with a hammer replacement.

I have 9 more metal greatswords I got in a trade (so mine aren't gold for sure) and just haven't figured a good time to use them just yet.

Group is moving up to 1k pts this month, though. I've got Knights painted that are more silver than red. They basically just have a red banner to go along with the overall theme.

I'll probably re-do the priests chainmail with silver. Just on a rush to get these guys painted up for the tourney yesterday.

Should get a few pics of them up.
