A while back I posted a thread asking for help with martian style camo. After nearly a month I've gotten off my lazy ass and finished 5 whole guardsmen. All that's left to do apply some brush-on varnish.
Any thoughts on how I can improve the look? Hopefully my next few models won't take so long

One month later I've finished 9 more dudes, and and most of a Leman Russ. I'll get photos of those up soon enough, but first I want to explore this POC for my Grenade Launchers:
Any thoughts? The bow needs to be positioned closer to the front of his hand and I think a grenade tipped arrow should go in his other hand (I don't have the right sized rods at the moment)

Only if the grenade is tied on, not connected. It gives reason to why he has a string of grenades on his chest then, and would be BAMF. Also, I think it looks pretty good and would definitely add chaarcter to your army.

Genius. That grenade launcher rules. There's two things I think of when I see that, both of them pretty obvious, but both awesome.

Yeah, I'm just real slow at taking photos, and I had a local RTT and my brother's 'ard Boys army to waste my time. I've completed a whole, whopping, two full infantry squads. One has black guns, the other desert yellow, which do you think look better?
Black guns:
Desert Yellow guns:
All of these are hosted on Dakka Dakka's gallery, so you can make them bigger if you want. I really need to get better at using my lightbox, a number of these photos are pretty bad.
Right now I've got most of a Leman Russ done, and a half-basecoated Platoon Command Squad. I think I'm getting a tad faster at this.

Alright, I've just about finished painting him, although his base rim needs to be gone over one more time.
I'm not too happy with the skin. For some reason I simply can't paint white people. The basing is still really boring, too.
I still haven't chosen a name for him yet. Someone on another forms suggested Augustus Kimbo and I'm kind of partial to that.

ok wow I need to get taking photos
Finally finished my Valk base. Now to start on the big Kahuna itself.
It's the first time I've ever really painted a Space Marine. I had some really tough time painting the Sunburst Yellow on the shoulderpad - my brother had moved it from the GW pot to a cleaned Vyzene bottle as he liked my Vallejo bottles better and I think that ruined it - the paint seemed to dry as I painted it, giving me horrible brush strokes even though it was thinned.

I scored this Land Raider sprue's Lascannons off ebay for like 3 bucks. Way better than paying Forgeworld 20 bucks plus shipping for the Vendetta bits.

Taking a short break from the Valkyrie to paint my oath for that crazy contest on another forum. This month we have to paint a Troops choice, and at least one of the models needs to have some form of injury. I will be painting the Special Weapon Team that rides in the Valk.
A WIP shot:
I could use some advice on how to improve the bit I'm using for the Wounded Warrior theme. One of the Catachan heads has a thin scar on it that usually gets ignored and filled with paint. This is the first time I've actually tried to empathize it.
I was actually really surprised when I saw this photo - the scar doesn't look purple at all, even if I'm looking at it as close as I can. What I did was mix in a little Warlock Purple in with increasing amounts of Tallarn Flesh to paint the scar. It looks like a raised ridge when you look at it on the table, which is probably the first time I've ever faked depth.
Also, I really need to get a gray backdrop for my lightbox.

I like the look of the army. Kinda reminds me of Michael Jackson in the Thriller video. Which I think of as a good thing. Which makes me think of a good idea. Have you thought of taking some space wolf heads and putting them on Guard bodys? Might look interesting for a veteran squad.

Thanks for that, now whenever I see more of this cool army all I'll be able to think about is them dancing en masse, grabbing their crotches and yelling "Wooo!"
I'm impressed with the level of facial detail on Scar, I have a hard time with eyes myself and it over all came out great.

One of the first things I wanted when I started up 40k was a unit of Ogryn and I finally got around to making one.
I finished these dudes this morning with an hour to spare. There is a contest on another website that I'm participating in and it looks like I'm getting a copy of the new Ghosts omnibus for my trouble.
Closeups:
It's been a little while since I've actually painted anything so they're a little more rough than I'd like but it's good enough for tabletop. I'm going to try to paint something on the banner once I actually figure out what should go on there. I'm also going to try and use some of the dead thrush I just got to hide the stick that's holding up the servo skull - you can kind of see where I already attempted it and fethed up.

How did you do those sweet ripper guns dude...?? is it built round the leadbelchers cannon or scratchbuilt?? my idea is to use Autocannons and then green stuff a butt onto them.

The Ripper guns are based on AoBR Big Shootas with a few different barrels - a 2nd Edition Ork Bolter, half a Lascannon, an upside down Slugga, and a scratch-built one.
This is a Command Squad that I completed for this month's contest. The theme was "Plan B", so I added bayonets for when the squad is inevitably engaged in melee. The Commander is based off a game at a tournament a few months ago - a fully kitted out Wolf Lord charged one of my Infantry squads and was promptly brought down before he could get a single attack in. The dude who killed him got a promotion.
