Been Around the Block

Hey all.....I am having a problem.
I am in the process of finishing up my Iron Warriors and need to make a choice w/ heavy support.
I have available:
9 oblits
3 delifers
tri las predator
vindicator
I was using 6 oblits (2 squads of 3) and a defiler.
The defiler really hasn't done a whole lot in the couple games I've played.
What's the best load out for my heavy support choices?
I was considering the 9 oblits, but that's fairly pricey.
The rest of the army is:
termy lords w/ 5 termies (for deepstrike)
10 marines (lc & mg) in rhino
10 marines (lc & mg) in rhino
10 marine (lc & pg) on foot
w/ my heavies it was around 1500 pts.
help a aspiring warmaster out.
thanks,
Rick

Well for me, i must put my vote on the tri las predator or the vindicator, more fluffy and I rarely see them.
If you rhino rush in a line, then go the vindicator and put it in the middle of the line. Otherwise go the predator.

Oblits will really be the most effective thing for you. 9@1500 is dirrty with two r's (the Christina Aguilera kind). Vindis are best run in multiples and with Possession IMO. I'd seriously change your vanilla squads to have 2x melta and P-fist, and all mounted. Pricier but much, much better.

The obliterators are the best choice.
Defilers, as you have found out, dont do much and tend to die easily.
Tri-las predators are very expensive and are terrible at killing anything other than tanks.
Vindicators with demonic possession are good at killing infantry but cant kill tanks unless you get lucky (no point running them without demonic possession).
Obliterators are fantastic at killing everything under the sun. Take as many as you can without sacrificing too much from the rest of your list.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live? |

Defilers instant death MEQs both with their cannon and in assault. Give them 2 extra arms and no guns but the cannon and you have a cheap and very effective unit.
It's like a dreadnought, only it ignores stunned/shaken, has fleet, shoots a bigger gun, and has more attacks at Str 10.
Defilers are monsters. Their only drawback is that they're huge fire magnets. If you plan on them drawing fire, you can easily use it to your advantage.
I'd say go Defiler and Oblits.

With Iron Warrior you get 4 heavy support choices....oh wait....
But in all seriousness Obliterators are one of the best heavy support choices in the game but the hideous models combined with the fact that everyone does them is the real downside IMO.

If their is anyway that Pred can become a Dakka Pred I would go with that. 9 oblits is great for varity sake Dakka pred is cheap and effective.

For 115 points, you can get: pred w/ havoc launcher, autocannon, heavy bolter sponsons, and it is great at killing tons of infantry (even space marines).
However... almost everything in the CSM list does a great job at killing infantry anyways, so you really need multi-melta power from your HS slots (and lascannons are nice too) so Obliterators are kind of the default choice.

Yeah, theory says take as many Obliterators as you can.
But I think 6 Obliterators are enough.
For the remaining points, 225, you can add some variety to the list, like Terminators with combi-weapons.
