So despite my outright loathing of 40k 5th Ed, my friends want to play the game and after talking about it some, I have to admit to being intrigued to using my old Space Marines.

Given the 5th Ed book and how little I've read through it, and how few 5th Ed games I've gotten in, I was just wondering what the popular opinion of Marines are.

Back in 4th, I played the average power list for my marines, but I built the army up enough so that I can field anything from a min/max dick list to full fluffy mech marines. Looking at it, I will only be playing friendly games where min/maxed lists will be avoided somewhat, but we are all still competitive enough where dumb choices will still be avoided.

I plan on sitting down with the Dex and coming up with a few lists, but Dakka is great for giving overviews on 5th ed Marines so I'd love to hear some thoughts on the army.

In the few things I've read, it seems like I can actually use my LRC and Terminators (an old favorite in 4th Ed that really wasn't worth it) looks like it's awesome now.
