Just wanted to throw this out I didn't know what others thought. If I upgrade my Medusa with Bastion breaching Shells can it not fire the other form anymore or can it. Cuz if not then that really janks it. ANyone else thought about this recently?

Nope, can't fire the other type.

Really? I've always found the BB Medusas to do an adequate enough of a job to not really miss the regular shell option. Having longer range means I might actually get to fire twice, and should I by a stroke of fortune actually hit a vehicle, the shell has a decent chance at penetrating.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

140pts for an ST10 AP1 blast? Chance of hitting a tank (1/3 + 41.64% (chance of rolling a 6 or less)) is 61.0% chance of hitting. Chance of at least one of 2 tanks hitting is 84.9% (ok that's 280pts)

(note maths allows for a 3" scatter in any direction if you place the template over a corner you drastically change the odds)

BB shells are pretty damned brutal. The 2D6 armour penetration roll means you'll all but certain of a penetrating hit with the hole over, and still have a reasonable chance on a hole-off hit. And the AP1 means you have a 50:50 chance of destroying the tank one you penetrate. The problem is, once you've cracked all the tanks, they're less good against what's inside.

Its more a matter of versatility, they're expensive and at that price point I'd like them to be able to have both (also coupled with thinking they could use both intially and the disappointment that followed).

I may still use them in the future, but they're not quite as good as I'd like them to be,

From what I can see your paying extra points to have a vindiactor with less armor and longer range if you pick the first shell. If you go with the second you got a one shot small blast that has a pretty decent chance of scattering.
