Halfway through season 4 and darn it's good.

I had some issues with the anti-climax of the shadow war, it works but the exectution was a bit sloppy.

The war for Earth is shaping up well.

The Garabaldi plot could be fantastic, if it wasn't for the mind-control aspect. I think it works as his natural choices.

I enjoyed this series back in the day - the CGI space battles and those shadow aliens were pretty cool. The politics weren't so bad and that one fat alien ambassador guy with the crazy hairstyle was a fun character.

I also had a thing for Captain Ivonnova (spelling).

Time to google some pics...mwhaha

Stoopid Hong Kong grey market disk just skipped 4 episodes and showed me how the battle for Earth ends!

Great ending.

Now I have to go see the build up.

Well I finished S4 and started season 5.

Great, great ending to Season 4. Maybe the best series wrap-up I've seen.

If you've not seen it around mid Season 4 they didn't know if there would a season 5 so they shot the final episode. Then they got picked up by another network. So they hastily created a finale for season 4, it starts 50 years in the future and goes ahead from there.

Very touching.

That bad huh?

I thought the opener was a bit disappointing.

KK, as you said, the problem was that they didn't know there'd be a Season 5. Personally, I think Season 4 was supposed to just be the Shadow War, and Season 5 was supposed to be the war with Earth. Instead, it's like they crammed Season 5 into about 3 episodes (iirc) near the end of Season 4. Season 5 isn't bad, but I think Seasons 2 and 3 were the best of the series. I don't blame the creator, because he was trying to wrap up the story, but Season 4 did feel rushed.

Well I'm like a 1/3 of the way through and there's still no sign of a focus or a plot. The episodes have been fun but it's like an epilogue, not a season.

Oh and Byron must die.

In a fire.

A long slow fire.

I really didn't think they could come up with a more obvious Mary Sue than Marcus...

Indeed. Having the axe hang over the show at the end season 4 was a killer. It meant a really rushed season 4 and a directionless season 5. I often wonder what may have been had MJS known all along that he was going to get season 5.

Still the best SF show of the 90's mind you.
