i couldn't find the answer in the BRB, it says the bears anger can be cast on the wizard or another friendly character. does that include unit champions, specifically, can a Slaan cast the bears anger on the temple guard unit champion? it says that no LOS is required to the character, which takes care of the FAQ that says a spell caster does not have LOS to his own unit. the spell is also castable into combat if im reading this correctly. so essentially, are unit champions classifiable as characters?

Unit champions are NOT characters. Champions get some of special rules for characters (most notable challenges and Look Out, Sir!), but are NOT themselves characters.

I'm afraid Manfred's right. Unit Champions are NOT characters.

i know but its the first spell in the lore so i can trade out a different spell for the first one. so i wanted to pick a lore where the first one is actually helpful.

I love it when know it all comments backfire.

Bleedge, I forget what page it is on, but the rulebook gives specific instances in which a unit champion counts as a character, such as accepting challenges and so on.

yea so you guys are right i found the page in the rulebook, it says that they are not characters but benefit from the ability to move around a unit, look out sir, and accepting and refusing challenges.

I believe the example he gave was Slann Mage Priest and any Lizardman player worth his ingots chooses the Slann power which gives him ALL the spells from his lore of choice. No rolling required!

The "knows one additional spell" item is much cheaper for lizardmen, and gives a Slann 5 spells. I think this is a great choice for a budget Slann if you can't afford the lore!
