i need to make some vines and was looking for ideas.
i figured a paperclip for the basic shape i want but im not sure that would convey vineyness.
do i need to wrap greenstuff around the clips and grain them?
suggestions?

I would suggest that you could use paper clip or galvanised wire with florist wire.
Wrap them around each other and you can even have both going in different directions after splitting off.
Gal wire is available from hardware and plant stores - about $2. Florist wire you could ask for from your local florist - they would carge you very little (or even free if you take the opportunity to buy your mrs some flowers! - I have some gerbras that have florist wires in that my wife is under instruction to remove for me when they give up the ghost...)
Alternatively, wires, greenstuff etc. I don't think you need too much detail on the surface.

All you need to do is go to any florist/hobby shop that carries fake flower stuff. Buy a cheap bag of Spanish Moss. You can make more vines than you will ever be able to use in 3 lifetimes out of one small bag. I also use "Birch scale" leaves as the leaves to make ivy climbing on walls and trees. If you leave where you can find birch trees then in late summer or early fall you can harvest your own birch scales and the total project will cost you less than US$3.
I think that you will have alot more success than using wire. I hope this helps.

The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude.

the vines will be free standing and need to support a bit of weight which is why i thought of the paper clip.

That inquisitor scale SOB is one ugly chick. I don't mean the model or the painting (which is good), I mean the sister herself. She got whacked with a master-crafed fugly stick me thinks...

I got lucky with the birch tree issue. My mom has like 6 of them on her property and since I mow her 65 acre yard every 2 weeks I get a nice view of when they are ready. Last year alone I collect about 2 pounds of scales after sifting the bad stuff out.
