As some of you may have seen in the army lists section i am rebooting my Zorks (zombie orks) and my counts as shoota boys are to be skeletal orks.
Its likely im going to convert them so it would be preferable for them to be plastic and also not that expensive, any idea's on where i can get some from?

Dungeons & Dragons miniatures has a skeleton Ork that you can snag used for 25 cents or so. Unfortunately its a single pose model and might not be exactly the same frame as a 40k orc although I remember it being pretty close

That's actually pretty nice. The line of D&D minis are fantastic. And with their round bases, they're practically ready to play right out of the box.

Getting a ton of models that are all the same takes work, but I think it would be worth it. And at $1 each, they are comp. to GW prices.

Good luck - please post pics when you have your 1st unit underway!

GW have a reasonable slection of ork/orc skulls, so they could be used for some clothed zombie orks. "Naked" boney hands and feet won't be so easy though - human skeleton bits will look too small...

If you play a lot of GW tournies GW made some ork skeletons for a Fantasy Dogs of War unit.

I am sure someone can come up with the name of it.

Clang, the ork skulls i plan to use with a bit of GS flesh for the more heavily rotted orks and for bits on my BoneBeast (deffdread) and unholy bonebased kannons that i havent named yet. the human skeleton being too small issue is why i cant just use human skeletons with ork skulls.

Clthomps, are those models OOP? if not can you try to find a name for them

Fishboy do you have the GW models Clthomps mentioned or the D&D models?

The Cursed Company has skeletal Orcs in it, although it's not in production anymore but you could search eBay.

Well, the DnD orc skeletons could be a good chance to practice splicing or conversions. The $.99 orc chests would probably be compatible with 'ummie arms and weapons (and possibly legs). The arms and swords left over would make for good bits collection additions for and armory piece, rubble-y bases, or zombie terrain with arms reaching out of the ground to claw at nearby units.

Everything's under control, situation normal... uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?

Since they are plastic i am planning on converting them quite a bit, mostly adding WAAAGH! energy flames to represent the shoota's
though i am unsure about that conversation i have no other idea's on how to represent shoota boys without using any technology...

If you have extra arms leftover, they could be throwing skeletal arms at the enemy. That could work. You could also add a conversion to give them some sort of venomous spitting projectile, like adding some resin to the mouth to be painted green or something. A final idea, although it leans towards more of a mutant-zork idea; you could make a gun sort of "grow" off of the zork's arm as a sort of bio weapon.

If you got spare arms you could have your shootas holding two arms cobbled together 'shooting' if you will the waaagh energy from the 'borrowed' arms

Well, there are Ork skulls on the sprues for Boyz, fantasy Orks and the Space Marine Scout Snipers, but that's all I can think of.

Tk, the spitting projectile was something i am going to use for any Kustom Mega Blastas in the army (or perhaps the countsas flamers can breath green fire...), i doubt ill have a glut of arms as the models are relatively hard to find anyway and i'd rather steer clear of bio-weapons for the Skorks (skeleton orks). Thanks for your replies though.

Grimbrand, i like the idea but again i doubt i will have any spare arms and im still unsure how to represent the waaagh energy flames might look like flamers but i cant think of any other way to represent energy.

Brother SRM, While i already knew that i still thank you for taking the time to reply

Guys what do you think of having "bolts" of energy, little green fireball type things do represent shoota's?
