After making an offhand comment about painting valkyries my buddy offered up his three. I decided since I'm doing this I'm going to go at it all out and went with a digital camo style. Now let me pretense this with something, this is not nearly done. I'm really struggling with the weathering (Tips appreciated) I can't seem to get it to look like I want.
Comments?
Also while you're at it give me some opinions on a Spartan themed Black Templars Army. I realize now that the shields are a bit too small, but I've already got 55 of them so I'll make it work. The gs definately needs some cleaner edging and more work but I think it's a start. The tabs holding on his cape are going to be gone as they look like doughnuts, I'll probably just use regular purity seals. Finally I went with the RT powerfist because it has a (for lack of a better word) softer feel to it instead of the more current one, I wanted curves and not sharp angles.

I love the Spartan, and the Valkryie!
I personally think that you don't need weathering if you can't find a way to add it without it looking odd. I think some dirt/rust on the cockpit glass (as in, in the corners, not all over) and a bit of rust around the rivets would look like enough, throw in some chips in the metal and your done.

I'm generally not a fan of the digital camo. It look like you zoomed in too close to a picture on a monitor with a low pixel count. Might work for an urban scheme, but otherwise camo should be more irregular.

Digital Camo was easy. I did a google search for digital camo stencils. When I found one I liked I went ahead and printed it on a half page style label (the ones used for UPS shipping). These stick really well and if you're clearcoating after each layer of paint (you'd better be!) they come off quite easily.
Then it's just a few steps:
1) Bascoat
2) Tape off below the centerline
3) Add your first set of cutout stencils
5) Coat the tophalf with the color you want to see the least
^) Add more cutouts on top of what you already have AFTER CLEARCOATING!
5) Clearcoat one more time
6) remove stencils
7) Clean up lines with tape and air brush

Lose the Spartan theme for the BT - Go with a medieval Templar/Knight theme instead. Their fluff doesn't fit a "Spartan" style. You could just make an army of Spartan Themed Bronze Spehss Mehreenz of Doom
There's some good shots of a custom Truescale Spartan Army that a Dakka member did and then auctioned off. The force is probably bought at this point but the pics might still be around if it helps.
Or you could go with a Samurai/Asian direction as well, that would work well if you wanted to make them a White Scars force.
For BT's (again) I would suggest more of a Crusades theme - Kite Shields and Longswords, Medieval Crests and Heraldry, lots of Silver, White, and Red, maybe some of the Chainmail Groin Flaps from the CSM Bitz, "Crusader" style helmets, all that fanzy blingy crap
Spartan Mehreenz make me think more of the Imperial Fists (Hell, "Captain Lysander" should be obvious enough ) The BT's make me think more of the Crusades, what with the Orb of Antioch, Templar Cross Iconography, Chapter being organized into "Crusades", etc...
Also, how the heck did you paint the camo on that Valk? It looks amazing! If you ever manage to apply it to Infantry, let me know how you pulled it off!

I like that scheme a lot better than the Catachan scheme shown on latest White Dwarf, or the full-green from the box. But if I would paint a Valkyrie, I would use this pattern:
Digital camo is my 2nd option now, thanks!

Even thought the shield is a bit small, i like the smaller look. Makes it look like they move more and use the shield more like a buckler, and less like a tower shield.
The camo looks great. But i agree, larger pics, and maybe some signs that it is actually a war machine, and not so pretty looking. chipped paint is really easy to get a good effect, just paint a sploch of black and then inside that, a similar sploch of silver. Make sure you do it is reasonable locations aka around doors, the leading edges of the wings, near the engine intakes and that sort of thing.

I'm sorry I didnt keep up with this. The shield is actually from http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/pack.php?pack=863
The heads are from micro art studios it's actually the amazon head. It took me several weeks to get everything I needed pulled together but now that it's all here the only really hard part will be to sculpt 40+ cape/robes.
The Valk is being used currently in an ard boyz tournament on this sunday. Once I get it back I will post up better pics and get a progress update on the 2nd plane of 3.
I'm now packing to take my little girl and wife to panama city, Florida for a couple of days.
