So, I've actually been on Dakka for a while now--and actually, this is my 'return' to Dakka--back in 1999-2002, I was on here all the time. In fact, back in those days, I was also a regular on Phantom Lord's original
OT board (long live Plaid!) - though things got heated at one point (when we decided to form our own inquisition, and a certain "LordGrantius" as chief inquisitorial prosecutor--oh, man, those were the days!).
Anyway, so I've been playing
40K since 1997. The first minis I ever bought was a box of 20 lead Eldar Guardians (1st ed.? either that or VERY early 2nd ed.). I got rid of them, I forget how or when or where they went, but now I miss them, and every so often I watch Ebay to see if I can get some again, just to satisfy my need for nostalgia

When I actually bought the game and started playing "for reals", I began with Ultramarines, and still play them (though god help me, my army *still* isn't entirely painted, and it keeps growing--I think I'm up to 6000pts now). I also play Guard, and, within the last month, I also started collecting Orks, which I'm excited about!
I began playing Fantasy in 2003. My first army was High Elves. I'm not sure why my first army was a finesse army that is really tough to play, but meh. I now have 8000pts of Elves...I love 'em, and hate 'em at the same time (because even after 6 years I haven't managed to become adept at using them :( ) I also have a sizable Empire army, though I usually only use them when my buddy and I are playing English Civil War. I also have a Dwarf army, my second Fantasy passion, which, I'm proud to say, is actually fairly painted (at least half). A year ago I started a Vampire Counts army (because so far I only have "good guy" armies--now with Orks and
VC, I've got "baddies" too

)
I also love terrain building! When we first started playing
40K, and we didn't care what the terrain looked like, my pals and I just made cardboard cities/ruins. One of us had a ping pong table, the entirety of which was covered in cardboard buildings--it was pretty epic. *sigh* --I miss those days....2nd ed, crazy cardboard battles with old school models...fun times!
Anyway, that's more than long enough. Boosh!
