So I'm about to move into a Studio apartment and I need some ideas for storage etc. The apt. is about 600 sq. ft. total or approximately 182 sq. m. I'm thinking that either a lofted bed or convertible bed are a must. Any ideas for creatively storing clothes?

I had a similar situation when I first joined the Army. Barracks are so much nicer now than they were back in the 90's. Anyways my room mate and I got rid of the table provided for us and got a few of those Sterelite filing cabinet style three drawer units and used those for our civilian clothes. We took the table surface part of the table and and used the drawer units as the "legs" of the table so we got two uses out of one piece of furniture. With an oversized table cloth it hid the drawer units and looked pretty good.

That's a great idea. I hadn't thought of that one. Definitely will make use of that idea.

I just moved from a 3 bedroom split level house around 1600 sq ft to a 1 bedroom condo around 800 sq ft. Space is an issue but I saved some cash from the move and spent it at ikea. Their stuff looks good and it's cheap (in price and construction so don't be rough with it) but they have tons of shelving ideas and space saving things. THey have a lot of furniture pieces that have hidden drawers and cabinets for stashing stuff and also futon sofas that are super comfy to sleep on if you want to use it as a bed too

Are you sure about the dimensions? It seems big for a studio flat.
Yes, I think you've miscalculated the conversion into square metres. By my sums it's a bit over 50-ish square metres. How is it laid out?
I second the recommendation for Ikea. They have model flats set up in their stores. You just get the tag numbers of the stuff you want and order it.

If you want a gaming table attach Hinges at the hight you like, then add two folding legs (make sure you do this on the short end of the board).

I'm going to Ikea on Sunday to look at some stuff. I'm thinking I can build some of the stuff too.

Yes, it's exact dimensions are 598 sq. ft. Somewhat spacious for a studio I suppose, but I'm moving from a 1200 sq ft (400 sq m) apartment. Goodwill or salvation army is going to be getting some sizable donations soon.

Friend of mine in London, where space is a premium, has a double loft bed with his 'office' desk with computer below it, and fitted shelves everywhere. If this place has high ceilings, go up. Ensure everything has storage under or in it. Also use those big shelves as dividing walls in the apartment to give areas for different things.

First thing I do when living in a small place is get rid of the bed.
Buy a sleeping mat, or a folding workout pad.
Saves a lot of space, especially if the studio comes with a deep closet.

I've thought about that, but then comfort comes into play. I guess I sleep on the floor half the year as it is anyway.

You can find sleeping pads good enough to sleep on your side.
Neck support is key with this sort of setup.
If you can spring for it, get a thin futon with a frame that folds up to be a couch.
(they may even still stylish and hipster... or I may just be old)

Build a loft over your regular bed. That way you don't have to climb into bed, and you get to store stuff on the loft, and under the bed.

I'm thinking about building a hexagonal storage unit that would cover most of one wall. I could store everything from my record collection to clothes in there. I'll just need to beg, borrow, or steal the tools needed.

1200 sq ft is not 400 sq meters. 1200 sq ft is 111.5 sq meters. And 598 sq ft is 55.6 sq m. Keep in mind that the dimensions are squared, so you have to square the conversion. I can see by your math that you are are multiplying by .3048, when you should multiply by (.3048)^2
182 sq m loft would be a 2000 sq ft loft lol
Or use google conversion =P

Now that's a dual use that I can really get behind! "Excuse me, can you get up for a minute? I gotta get my storm troopers from under the cushions there" lol
