I'm about to take an internship position in Kingsport TN, I was wondering if any of the local gaming stores in Kingsport, Bristol, or Johnson City are any good for 40k? Also if you are in a store close to this area feel free to post where your store is. Thanks.

dwayne's world in kingsport has 40k stuff, and a couple of tables, not sure how the gaming is there though, last i was there a couple warmachine/horde games were going.

The hobbytown in Johnson city has a building open on i think friday and maybe saturday thats just a bunch of tables and terrain, i'm told 40k is the main game, though some fantasy gets played there also

Dwaynes world in Kingsport is/was great. I haven't been there in a few years. There is/was a huge..HUGE clix scene there(one reason why I kind of stopped going there as I hate clix). 40K is/was played now and then. There are/was 1 big tables and a few smaller 4x6ish tables. The best thing about Dewaynes world is Dewayne though, very easygoing LGS owner.

As Lynn said, Hobby town in JC has a building that supports gaming. I haven't had a chance to get there yet on a game night, as I live in VA about 1.5 hours away.

There is a small scene starting out at G2k games in Abingdon, VA. Very small at the moment.

When are you going to be starting in Kingsport, maybe I'll meet you at Dewaynes world and have a game with ya.

its about a one hour drive for me hit up dwayne's or hobbytown myself.

hopefully i'll be able to get out there and game some in the next few months.

when i was at dwayne's back in january, they had a freakishly huge selection of stuff, and the place was well lit/didn't smell like a nerd cave

edit-its weird hearing people talking about gaming in places i actually know about/can get to for once on here

Where are you driving from Lynn? Are you in Bristol? or somewhere else. If you're in Bristol, Abingdon's pretty close.

Hey if you live in Mountain City have you tried Boone, NC? I know that Dragons Den closed down, but there is a new games store opened up there where the guys have migrated to, which I haven't had a chance to get to yet. Boone used to be a hotbed for Warhammer Fantasy, and some Golden Demon & Slayer Sword, painters there.

god i miss dragons den, thats where i first saw wargaming models, and where i bought my gaming stuff in my youth.

boone in general is just a fun town.
I was at a gaming store there maybe 2 months or so back, it was kinda small, but had probably 10 guys playing 40k while i was there getting some paint

I am moving up to Kingsport on August the 17th...I really hope there is 40k scene there as I want to finish my nids and I'm looking to start a Witch Hunters army, but I won't do that if there isn't a shop anywhere nearby.

I will definitely post on here and let any locals know. Maybe we can get together and play sometime.

in johnson city, the hobbytown has a building with tables, and i'm told the games run pretty heavy 40k

in kingsport, there's dwayne's world, few tables there, not sure what gets played (only been in once, and a couple warmachine games were in progress)

i've no idea what all is in bristol

If your in for a drive (which most people aren't) Knoxville has a couple of gaming stores, specifically Hobby Town USA in west Knoxville and Sci-Fi City in east Knoxville, but like I said, it's a drive.

Sci-Fi has 40k on Thursdays and open on Saturdays. Hobby Town has open on Saturdays.

Currently Play/Own
= 3500 = 3500 = 4000 = 2500 = 1000 = 500 = 3000 = 2000 = 1000 = 2500 = 1500

Whats the gaming like at Hobby Town? What are the size of games? Does it cost anything to play? I meant to go and watch this past saturday, but I overslept (I work third shift).

Playing is free, now that it is inside the store. (I usually buy something though) There are 4 6x8 tables set up, and I haven't seen anyone have to wait to game yet. Most of the guys I have seen are cool..... no TFG's as far as I can tell.
