lash of submission from CSM says you target and move the nonvehicle unit 2d6 inches. lets say the unit is in a dispersed roughly linear formation behind a wall. can you move each model 2d6 inches in order to clump them together for an upcoming defiler shot or do you have to keep the same formation?

You can put them in whatever formation you (the Lashing Player) want, so long as no model moves more than 2D6"

thanks for the quick response but is there anything in the rules or faq to support this reasoning as opposed to moving the unit formation as is? i couldn't find any specifics either way.

And if for some reason people arn't satisfied with the FAQ - It says you move the unit, and so it obeys all normal rules for movement. And in normal movement you move however you want up to your movement distance.

Always 1 on the crazed roll.

As of the FAQ Lash is capped at their normal movement value. Normal infantry = 6", Jetbikes 12", etc.

Where does it say this? It just says they move as normal, but can move up to 2D6"

Hrm, you know, upon re-reading, I may have been injecting extra meaning into the FAQ.

"executed exactly like a normal move...2d6" rolled is the unit's maximum move, as normal"

I took that to mean that it was limited to normal movement range, but looks like it's actually saying, it's simply executed like a normal move with a maximum distance of 2d6".

My bad.

As with normal movement they must be kept coherent.

When clumped into a big ball, they still are within coherency.

Yes, but once I was observing g game with two new players. The chaos player wanted to separate a unit of lootas all over the board with lash within the range he rolled. So the next turn they would have to move into coherently instead of firing. I let them know how to play it, but they still played their way. They were both having fun and that’s what the game is about ( number one rule and all). I just thought it should be mentioned here.

I guess that is why they include the whole "executed like a normal move" meaning that they would have to be remain in unit coherency.
