Well, it was recently my birthday, and since I am abroad and couldn't tell her not to, my significant other went to the local GW to get me a present. The red shirt working apparently knew I played orks, and told my fiancee to get me a stompa, because what ork player doesn't want one? Initially I hated the model, but now that I have one, it is starting to grow on me. However I now face a problem, how should I equip my new monstrosity? I have never played apoc, and have no idea what sort of weapons I ought to put on this guy. How do my fellow ork players load out their stompas? Additionally, does anyone know where I can find the rules for a stompa online, or are they in the Apoc book?

I'm looking at the sprue online. I'm thinking you should magnetize the weapons (Looks like you can from what I see). That way, you aren't permanentally choosing options for the model.

The basic stompa rules (2 variants) are in the Apoc book, and more variants in Apoc Reloaded, and additionally I believe rules for the customisable stompa are now on the GW website (after appearing in a recent WD). If you're going to acually play with it (as opposed to just putting it on a shelf for people to admire), I'd definitely recommend finding the rules so you can decide on the best variant for you.

I'm nearing completion of my first stompa, and I'd definitely recommend the magnetising option - I've put all the compulsory weapons (those shared by all the variants I'm interested in) on the main hull and all the optional weapons on the arms, so I can later build extra arms to easily equip it differently. With a model this big and expensive, you don't want to be ripping off arms and weapons!

What I have found that works for me is the Mek Stompa with belly gun/kannon. It comes equipped with the lifta droppa, which in my opinion is an absolute must have. At 48 inches, the weapon is an automatic hit as long as the target is within range, no need to roll. You then roll the scatter dice and anywhere along that path up to 24 inches drop it lol that simple. The target is hit with d6 glancing hits, and if you are lucky enough to roll the scatter dice over impassable terrain, the vehicle can be dropped on the terrain and is destroyed.

The giga shooter/deth cannon combo is awesome too. The giga shooter acts as the co-axial tracer for the deth cannon allowing you to re roll your scatter dice once everytime you fire, which I have done in games and it is well worth it.

The belly gun is ridiculous, you get to roll 3d6 for the radius blast at strength 7, ap 3... good bye most ground units lol.

The apoc book is where you will find the Stompa and Mek Stompa. White Dwarf #350 has the belly gun and other neat Stompa goodies.

Hope this helps...also showed a pic of mine for referrence.

My only problem with the belly gun is the "shoots every other turn" rule. My opponents know what it does and it is always the first gun they try to knock off. I say go with the death arsenal.

Nice model Zarynterk!

The Deff arsenal is awesome. 120pts (I think) for 3D6 str 9 shots + d3 extra grot rokkits a turn is awesome. Don't leave home without it.

I love my Mek Stompa, as previously stated, the lifta-droppa is an absolute must against IG and other tank heavy armies (yay for throwing a landraider into a lake!).

The Evil eye in the Sky is ok, but no matter what variation I try, the Mek one keeps calling me back. The Goff one was fun as well.
Oh and I know as soon as I post this people will start complaining but, take the Mek with KFF in your stompa, no matter the variation, every enemy unit is going to be shooting at your 13 front armor, so the 4+ save will help you last until at least the 2nd turn.

On a side note, Zarynterk, what did you use to make the claw? I had a hell of a time making mine and even then Im going to redo it.

Are the stats for the Deff arsenal in the Apoc book?

Nevermind, found it in White Dwarf #350... Deff arsenal is broken, nuff said
