This is not intended to be a hardcore tournament list. I do not expect to be playing maxed-out Jetbike Council MechDar or double lash princes or any such nonsense. This is just an idea I had for sort of casual just-dropped-by-the-store-for-a-game type games, since I already have most of these models, and could just cobble together the rest.

I'm just wondering if it is at all competitive for friendly play, or if it's too silly to even give it a go.

Anyway:

Shrike (195)

4xScouts (100)
Camo Cloaks
4 Sniper Rifles
Missile Launcher
Sergeant w/ Sniper Rifle

Terminator Assault Squad (200)
2 Thunderhammer/Storm Shield
2 Lightning Claws
Sergeant w/ Lightning Claws

9 Vanguard Veterans (370)
Jump Packs
2 Power Weapons
Sergeant w/ Lightning Claws

9 Assault Marines (240)
2 Flamers
Sergeant w/ Lightning Claws

9 Assault Marines (250)
2 Plasma Pistols
Sergeant w/ Thunderhammer

5 Devastators (192)
2 Lascannons
Sergeant w/ Bolter/CCW

So I have a couple of Lascannons and some Thunderhammer action for the stray Land Raider or Leman Russ, Missile Launchers for the medium to light vehicle work, a metric tonne of assault power that immediately gets in your face, and snipers for the Monstrous Creature/other big bad guy work. Plus, all my Assault stuff gets to Fleet, and I get to infiltrate almost the whole army. I can even outflank stuff with Shrike in a pinch, when it seems more beneficial than Deep Striking. Nothing like a whole Assault Squad showing up behind your lines with Plasma Pistols drawn to ruin your tanks' day.

Am I right in thinking Vanguards get to DS, Fleet, and then assault (because it only says they can't shoot or run; it doesn't say they can't Fleet)? If so, so much the better.

Anyway, thoughts? Again, take off your tournament player hat for a second. This is NOT a tournament-style list.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

Looks like a good list to me. The Scouts are weak to Heavy Flamers.

That's true. The plus side, though, is that a heavy flamer has a lot to wade through to get close enough to use. Unless it's on something that deep strikes 4-8" away from me, I should be ok. In that situation, well, wasn't like I was going to live long anyway, huh?

You are a little weak on anti-tank but it is otherwise a first rate anti-infantry list. And it is a pretty good fluff-wise Shrike list.

the only problem i see is someone focusing their fire and wiping out the scouts right away because there is only 5 in a squad and 4+ saves then you are stuck without troops

Camo-cloaks, dude. You can even put them behind the Assault squads if you have to.

Yeah. Most of the time, the Scouts are packing a 3+ cover save. With cover as abundant (ubiquitous, even) as it normally is, they become normal Marines pretty quickly. Hopefully the rapid strike capabilities of the rest of my force can mitigate how much fire the Scouts are taking early. In objective missions, I'm not opposed to keeping them off the table at first and outflanking them in, either. Hard to kill them straight away when they don't show up for a few turns...
