I thought of this while looking at games I'm exited for Christmas(long way i know but beside the point)
all are sequels.
So what do you like better.
the exiting new game play of a brand new series or the comforts of a sequel.

-to many points to bother to count.

Its hard to say really . All depends how well they do on the sequel.

I put down my vote for a new series. I like the new stories and characters that can come from new series.

Las Vegas

Yeah, that's a toss up. Its the new exciting games that make me want the sequel. I guess I'll vote for sequel simply because with a new game, you just don't know but with a sequel you can (usually) expect a better version of a great game already.

So anticipation goes to the sequel. Unless its Arkham Asylum.

It can go either way. Fallout is a great example of good sequels, when not counting the crappy tie-ins. On the other hand we have Golden Eye and Perfect Dark, a good example of taking a tried and test format into a new direction.
