Ok so I decided to make a deff dread . I'm using sprue to make a box shaped object which I will then cover with tank parts. This is a few of the sprue's/ pieces I'm using. ![]() " border="0" />
Haven't gotten much done yet but I'm going to work on it slowly. I already decided to use a rhino hatch on the top with an ork sticking out but I need to finish the bottom first and put it together
EDIT- Just finished the cude but not a big enough advancement to put a new picture.

Well I added all the walls on it except the bottom and one side so all that is left is that and the legs and the weapons which I have figured out. Too late to post more pictures right now so I'll post them tomorrow. The thing is actually turning pretty good.

Thats the awsome thing about orks one can save some bug bucks doing scratch builds , but I suppose you still have to shell out for all the boyz .

Plasticard (sheet styrene) should be considered for this project. One yard sale or BAD! dog sign would make your idea have form and consistency.

Ya I'm planning on taking some photo's tomorrow. It looks pretty good right now and is pretty stable. If you do make one though then it WILL be very delicate at first. I did make a kan but I forgot it when I went to GW today =P

I found an old model car I got once and it was made of plasticard so I cut off the roof and used it for the back.
EDIT- Do you know where I can get plasticard (home depot)? I will use it a lot in future projects seeing as I am to build a scratch built rhino and BW.

WRONG. I have a plan for scratch built boys very soon =P just haven't figured out how yet. Also now that I'm in the mood to scratch build, I might make a scratch built army to save $$
Anyone think I should make this a tutorial the next time I make one?

Ok I decided to take the pictures anyways. The back and one of the side are both plasticard like material.
Front ![]() " border="0" /> ![]() " border="0" />
Top ![]() " border="0" />
Side 1 ![]() " border="0" />
Side 2 ![]() " border="0" />
So what do you all think? Still need to think of a way to make legs (I have an idea I might try) And I have a few weapons planned out. I also need to fill the gaps.
Edit- Someone please post so it shows that this has a new post in it.

Looking pretty good, if not a bit too box-like.
Did you mention scratch-built Ork boys as in ? I want to see that!
You should take your photos on white paper next to a wall, then have something like a penny or a standard mini next to the model for reference. For indoor photography you should try to make a light-box, easy as pie; take a big cardboard moving box (or beer box ) glue white paper to the inside or coat with spray paint and you will get some really nice photos. This is mainly for detail, but it will help make your photos more presentable (not that most care) so we can clearly understand what you are doing.

Sure thing will do next time. My dad is the photo expert so he takes the pictures most of the time so I'll ask him to help next time. I wanted to make this one box like for:
A) Easier carrying (fits in perfectly to what I hold my models in),
B) It was easier for a first project, and
C) I wanted to see if my new sprue base idea will work. It supports the structure big time. It fell off the table before and nothing happened while my first attempt design would have fallen apart. Although when you first glue the sprues, it's super delicate.
EDIT- Did you mention scratch-built Ork boys as in ? I want to see that!
I don't get what you meant.

WRONG. I have a plan for scratch built boys very soon =P just haven't figured out how yet.
As in sculpting miniatures yourself somehow? I would recommend using spare bits, mainly head and arms, to get them realistic. Next to that you can actually sculpt the whole model.

have you tried going to home depot or a craft store for ideas? alot of what you find works great for other things.
large PVC pipe for cooling towers and small ones for turrets.
wooden gift box-used as a bunker
electrical boxes-used as bunkers and small buildings
plant holders-used as buildings
cake decorations used as scenic pieces and terrian
