I just bought a lot of SM figures that had some classic figures. These I plan to use as either a Legion of the Damned or my Vanguard/Sternguard Veterans. I want to keep their existing paint job just show how much of a veteran they are. Also, I am afraid to strip the paint as I may damage these really old figures. Enjoy!

ick, Those are ugly! but for some reason that I cant figure out, people love those old basterds. Nice find tho, you rarely find minis that old, and still looking good.

I love Rogue Trader-era marines. Those are great!

If the figures are metal though (and I'm pretty sure these all are), you should be able to strip them without any problems, if you want to.

These aren't the only old figures I got. I have a couple of Librarian Terminators also which I will post after work. And another figure that looks like a Power Armour Marine but has Terminator printed on its base and Curx Terminatus on his shoulder pad. I could find it in any of the Rouge Trader photos.

I'm just guessing, but it's probably supposed to be a marine veteran with Terminator honors. That would explain the Crux Terminatus on power armor.

I'm familiar with it, a standard marine with "Terminator" on his tab.

They're all good for stripping as they are metal. They are lead though and softer to work with than White Metal for cutting, bending and filing. Getting RT era metal backpacks for these old marins is hell though, I have loads (approx 40) and will have to settle for spares from the RT plastic beaky-marine boxset.

I've got one of those guys, they're from the days when you got 3 lead figures for $4. I ended up with almost one of each of the generations of Power Armor except the dude with the open faced helmet.

I also had two Plasma Gun Space Marines who had the Crux Terminatus on their shoulders, but I traded both of them like an idiot and the guy I traded with used a belt sander to grind off the Crux..sigh...

Are power-armored marines with Terminator Honors not around anymore?

Is Terminator Honors still an upgrade you can give to veteran sergeants, veteran marine squads, and other characters in 5th edition?

No, It's not a wargear item anymore IIRC (at work, no book - feel free to correct me) I believe it's incorporated into their statline, so it's assumed they have it and not given as an option.

Ah. I wondered why there seemed to be some confusion. That would explain it! I haven't updated to 5th edition yet (or 4th for that matter!).

A Dettol and water equal mix for 2 days is your friend for strippage, doesn't harm plastic at all, just make sure you remove the bases to minimize any pva as it goes gunky.

Hmmm, I like some of the old R/T era minis but not all. I think the first Grey Knight Terminators are my fave old minis.

You could also give them a soak in Castrol Super Clean overnight. Be sure to wear gloves though!

The arms are different. But the main body is Model No. 70204/2 from the really old Archive Space Marines...Rouge Trader Era...

The Captain is just a generic 2nd ed captain model - iirc GW had theirs painted up as a Blood Angel or a Dark Angel.

@ Kingcracker That is indeed the body of a 2nd ed Grey Knight - I've got a squad of them myself.
