I was wondering if there is any one lore in particular that just plain kills????? as they all look reasonably balanced to me

so what im looking for is some either deadly combo's with existing units and a spell, or army and lore, or a good reason why one lore is the best.

so far to me shadow has been way too much fun with lizards
espicially with unseen lurker pumping out a 18(or 24 if you marched then charged) inch charge with a ancient steg with war spear flying back skink priest and using them to cast crown of taidron (all units withing 12 take d6 str 4 hits) on a closly packed empire g-line
and of course making fear causing blocks of saurus(even better when your skink preist for your engines just casted celestial shield on them)
just makes shadow my fav so far

95% of teens would go into a panic attack if the jonas brothers were about to jump off the empire state building copy and paste this if you are the 5% who would pull up a lawn chair grab some popcorn and yell JUMP BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hoe gaat het allemaal ????

I personally like using Lore of Metal. The army I normally play is DE, and their normal lore is good enough for most opponents. But then occasionally you will face a bret, empire, or WoC list with many knights. S4 (which seems to be the most common magic strength) doesn't cut it vs a 1+ or 2+ save. Hitting them with Lore of metal can obliterate a unit in a single turn. (which is all you usually have vs knights). Lore of fire is similarly useful if you opponent brings multiple regenerating units, or a single death star unit. I would say for an offensive magic army, lore of fire and lore of metal are the best choices. Neither have "bad" defaults, and only have a couple of situational spells between the two.

I like Lore of Death. It's got a nice combo of damage spells and psychology spells. Plus it's funny having terror causing zombies.

beasts is great as an all around lore, every spell has its uses and the casting values are low.

I'm not too fond of magic in fantasy as you have to:

1. Plan on it not working for you.
2. Plan on it working for your opponent.

Not really a fun part of the game for me. I think I'd like it better if magic were more reliable
(though I guess magic items tend to represent the stable part of magic).

For Slaan I like fire, as most are shooting based spells and I don't plan on getting into combat
Metal for when I take on heavy armour enemies.

I've never taken beasts.

Very much depends on the opponent. Lore of Light is very handy against Daemons and Undead as your guaranteed spell (i.e. the one you can swap another spell for) is Pha's Burning Gaze which gives you a D6 S6 hits against these fellows. And they can't be regenerated, cos it's a flaming attack.

I would say that more important than the choice of Lore is being able to control your spell selection. Slann and Vampires can have all the spells from a single Lore, High Elves can take the Seerwood Staff and choose their spells and Empire can take Balthasar Gelt who gets all the spells from the Lore of Metal (as discussed above, very useful against heavy cavalry).

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Agreed with Flashman, it's all down to who you're fighting, and what army they're using - some lores simply won't do anything against certain opponents, such as using the Lore of Light against Non Daemons/Undead, or using Lore of Life against a low shooting high armoured opponent.

Play around with them all, see which works, it's down to experience more than anything, on a personal note, I take Death/Metal/Life the most, as they offer the best balance against my usual opponents (Vampires, Empire, Orcs, Dark Elves and Ogres).

Depends on what role I want my mages to take. Lore of Heavns is great for scroll cadies (Low cast DC's and lots of support stuff)

Fire. I like burning things, 'nuff said.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

conflagation of fire or w/e its called is great if you can pull some luck out of the bag as iv done on occasion and got like 20 hits from it on an opponent lol
metal obviously vs any heavy armoured army
