I was just wondering which Chapter army is the best.I'm about to play SM and I am attracted to them all equally. Please include reasons and any pictures you may have.
Thank you in advance everyone!

Wait for the new 'Wolf dex later this year, it should be good. I'd steer clear of either "Angels" codex until they eventually get redone. Templars are silly - some cool rules, some obsolete ones. Never seen them win a single game, I'm afraid.

If all else fails, Codex: Space Marines is thoroughly excellent.

Thanks I'm still torn between both angels and Wolves. And I already have the SM codex.

For friendly games I play my Dark Angels. They are fun, have a knightly feel to them, you can use termies and bikes as troops, and have some of the more interesting Characters in the game (Sam with a jetbike OR a flying land raider=fun).

For competitive play I use my DAs as vanilla marines with some converted models for the vanilla special characters (Shrike for one). They really have more options, better equipment, and more punch than the other codexs.

Wolfs are getting redone this (or early next?) year, so Id wait till then, but you could probly start collecting now in terms of the basic troops and tanks.

Blood Angels are seriously gimped in almost every way, Id stay away until they have a real codex.

Templar's are really meh at this point. They are around the same level as DAs right now, but really not much character going in general.

The back stories are really interesting for all of them, so those are worth looking into, thats how I came to my decision.

Wow thanks for the advice. Now it's between DA and SW

Delving more into DA's:

Again their main draw play wise is being able to take bikes and termies as troops. Something other chapters cant do (vanilla marines can, but the bikes squads have to be 5 or more). Granted you have to take the special character to do this, it does give some interesting tactics. They do have alot of flavor both fluff and model wise, with almost all of their units capable of being "Dark Angelfied" so they dont look the same as vanillas, and having part of their original legion sided with chaos. Makes for a ton of fun games if your into that kinda thing. Example being I have a pal at my FLGS who plays chaos, and every time we play, I make it a personal mission to take down Cypher and his fallen angels.

Wolfs right now have a lot of interesting options, like taking a dread as a HQ is interesting, and their special rules make them a diverse bunch, plus they have access to alot of the newer space marines codex due to the book telling you to refer to the SM codex, which is the one Im assuming you have. This will give you an advantage over they other 3 codex chapters, at least until your new book comes out. They also have a cool viking vibe to them, and can take wolfs, which despite the lack of wolf models in production right now, is also cool.

Wow,cool. But can you take both. Like they are in a battle like in the story of The Lion and The Wolf or in the comic Deathwatch?

Take both as in both SW and DA? In Apoc yes, but standard games no. You have to pick one army or the other. Though you could use the same models for DA's as SW's, so long as there are no radical differences.

When using my DAs as vanillas, they are all just robed, green armored marines. Lucky for us Marine players, most of our units and war gear looks pretty much the same, so you can change chapters almost on the fly. I had originally painted my DA's half green half red (horrible paint scheme BTW, looked like christmas elves), so I could play both Dark Angels and Blood Angels, depending on the enemy. Save for a few units and special characters, it was all interchangeable.

Wolves. They're the coolest looking marines and they're getting a new dex this year.

I'm a Dark Angels convert from the Vanilla codex as well. I honestly have had much more fun with the game since the switch and I could care less to turn back. Great choice battle brother

Forever alone

Play DA if you feel like crossdressing once in a while.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Also, play SW if you want to be the coolest space marine army out there.

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."
