Howdy again peepel!

Some of you have already seen some of my Necromunda gang. It's still a work in progress. I had started it as my local gaming club was due to have a Necromunda tournie this month but my friend that I go with has since stopped going so I am somehow, the gods decreed, unable to go. But alas, my local GW is due to host a few friendly games soon so I'm getting my wiggle on and trying to get it done.

First things first, the boring crap. The story behind my gang:

Alamein. A desert world in the vicinity of the Maelstrom, it fell to Chaos powers four years previous. Before the fall, a great many Imperial Loyalists were rounded up and sentenced to death by the corrupted Commisariat for crimes that were never commited as part of a secret purge.

However, a group of guardsmen from the Alamein 17th Light Infantry (and a gunner from the 8th Armoured) managed to escape detention and flee off-world.

Now they ares hired guns in the underhive of Necromunda, struggling to survive while constantly hiding from the forces of Ordos Hereticus who wish to cleanse the Alamein taint - regardless of innocence.

And now it's only fair that I reward you with some pictures:

Former leader of Squad 351, 3rd Platoon of the Alamein 17th Light Infantry. He was accused of murdering four superior officers, however, only one count was true. He escaped imprisonment, prior to execution, after a guard who was escorting him to a different cell slipped and fell on the blood of a prisoner who had recently commited suicide. He then aided in the release of a handful of other prisoners who, together, escaped off-world in the hold of a cargo-lifter.

awesome! really dig your choice of colours, only point i would make is to maybe change the visor lense from red to neon green (or a brighter red), to make it a more drastic accent. do you have unpainted pics of him? also, where do you get your 28mm ww2 guns?

This is very cool. A nicely-crafted miniature that oozes character - where is the head from?

Looking forward to seeing more!

Many thanks. I spent a lot of time deliberating as to what colours to use. Since it's a post-modern yet historic themed gang I attempted to use my own version of urban digital camo for the fatigues and in some places use WW2 German camo. The orange lenses were a choice I made as I am a fan of using orange with dull colours (and is one of the reasons I love the Strogg from Quake). I don't have any unpainted pictures of him as I made and painted him late at night :( And I get all my weapons from 1/35 scale Tamiya WW2 box sets. Only £4 each and you get a wicked selection of weapons although the men are too big for use.

Again, thank you. The head is from the German sniper blister from West Wind productions. That blister has the best heads I've ever seen.

His head is also from the same sniper blister as Sgt. Zweck.

I tried to do a variant of the splinter camo for his poncho. It's shiney because I wanted it to look waterproof so I used a satin wash over the base colours.

A crack-shot from Squad 216, 2nd Platoon of the Alamein 17th Light Infantry. He was accused of falsifying Departmento Munitorum requisition forms on five seperate counts, disputing each of the outcomes of each form and in doing so failing to honour the Departmento Munitorum. He was sentenced to be shot fifeteen times, once for each crime, before being rescued by Sergeant Zweck.

It's a bit weird looking at these pictures as these minis were painted when I was still learning how to paint two months ago. I've improved since then so I'm not sure how the newer gang members will turn out. I shall have to go back over the older minis and do some glowing lighting effects on the lenses.

Me likey.

I love the WW2 gun actually, it looks more mercenaryesk and it makes the figure look like he's not some super-trooper from the IG.

Looks (IMO) to be what a 40K merc should look like, drab and grizzled, and I agree with EzeKK, the gun does fit in with the model

I too like the grease gun on the first Mini.

Great minis overall, you really put in the effort to make them look unlike any of the other IG or Sm minis

Thank you, also. The gun is staying, I will bite anyone's face who comes close to removing it It's supposed to be an autogun so I figured "Why not an MP40?"

Again, thank you. That was what I was trying to do, make them appear uniform yet each mini has a little personality of their own.

Ha ha, thank you! Yeah, I love the grittiness of the 40k universe but it's seldom seen so I tried to make it show here. These guys are scum but someone once said to me they sound like the A-Team o.O

Thanks for the kind words. I take pride in making my minis look different from the norm. And it's an MP40, not a grease gun. But I do love the grease gun, so simple and awful it's great!

Thank you. And here's the link to the mini: German Mech Grenadier Snipers.

The blister comes with two bodies (I've used one in my gang, pics to come shortly) and it comes with four heads. And they are the best heads I have ever seen. You can see one of the heads in a minute when I put up my heavy stubber dude.

Thank you. I just love it.

TIME FOR AN UPDATE!!

Previously part of a heavy bolter fireteam in Squad 417, 12th Platoon of the Alamein 17th Light Infantry. Schild was never accused of any crime yet found himself imprisoned alongside other loyalists. During his escape, he used a motorcarriage door as a shield while his comrades attempted to override a locking mechanism that opened a hatch to the sewers of Hive Atrik. Due to his experience, and strength, he is the designated squad support member of the team and favours the Schweres Stummelgewehr Three Heavy Stubber made on the Nordstern forge world found in the Alamein system.

A pic I managed to sneak in of him as a WiP

He's still a bit WiP. I need to add some glowing effects to his eyes.

You're in luck because someone asked me the same thing and I already have a step-by-step made. I'll put it up a little later.

Here's another ganger; Grunzen.

A regular trooper in Squad 127, Grunzen was imprisoned, awaiting execution, for assaulting an officer and his two escorts. He harboured a long-time suspicion that all was not well on Alamein and slowly began to resent what was happening around him. He snapped when a Major stormed into his barracks of residence and arrested his best friend for crimes he knew were never commited yet spelled certain death. In the struggle, his best friend was killed and Grunzen restrained. He was rescued by Sergeant Zweck and has sworn an oath to aid his saviour to make up for past mistakes.

And here's a step-by-step I made a while ago. It should be noted that this was done when I was still learning to paint and that I don't follow this method anymore. I tend to use washes in conjunction with layering and pigments now but the way I do it in stages is the same.

These are brilliant and I love the background, the conversions are great they are hugely characterful but not over the top. The painting also looks nice indeed. If you've only just started colour me impressed!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.
