Played Magic: The Gathering card game the summer after high school (damn, that was a long time ago) and had fun with it.

Saw the videogame version on Xbox Live Arcade and picked it up. Haven't played anyone online yet, but have had a blast playing against the computer and unlocking stuff.

Anyone else tried it out? Do you dig it?

It's kind of hit/miss for me. I unlocked the Ears of the Elves deck and am playing back through the early fights trying to get things going.

Damn is the Elf deck weak, without ALOT of buildup going for it in the first round.

Its a blast of a game. The only customization is cards you unlock by playing the decks. Four core color decks with 17 cards to pull or add as you see fit. For example grab the deck and play against the comp in campaign or single duel 17 times to unlock all cards. There are three multi colored decks with 15 cards unlockable each. The only deck you can't unlock (yet?) is an artifact deck you unfortunately have to play against its a really downer.

It comes with a challange mode where you have like I believe 8 challanges where the odds are stacked literally against you and you have to find out a way to win on your turn. Very good. The really down side is that the full decks are not customizable where you cant just make a whole deck. THen again its based on the computer game where you have to buy cards...really dont want xboxlive getting ideas like that.

The ball breaker honostly is its multiplayer. Fun as hell two headed giant (2 on 2 you both share one life) and 4 way battle circles but the online connection down to it is liquid gak through a funnel topping a cake. Most of the time the game can randomly ignore all your button commands and you just stare at your turn that will never end because its not recognizing that you ended the turn. Asshats never ending the turn and the timer actually doesnt end their turn it just empties leaving you with a WTF look on your face. For some reason One out of the 4 people you play with (among your friends) can never seem to connect.

Over all I find the game as highly addictive as it has ever been when I played years ago save for buying all the cards thank god. I believe its worth it and look foward to the down loadable expansions they plan on releasing.

"Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope. Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds." ~ HK-47

I love this game, I haven't gone online with it yet, as I'd like to have a full deck before that, I've nearly unlocked all the cards so far. BTW, Ears of the Elves seems just so overpowered to me. They're pop up like rabbits, and grow stronger for it. Lots of very good abilities on their cards too, I'd wager to say it's my favorite deck thus far.

Yeah, Ears of the Elves can be overpowered...if you get a good set of cards to start with.

But against anything that can deal damage that can't be blocked it's just a free win.

I might actually pick it up.

It's not pay-to-play like Magic The Gathering: Online, is it?

Not pay-to-play. Don't know if they are going to expand it, though, and wrench more pts ($) out of you. For the time being, I am mostly just kickin' back and playing the computer to unlock cards for fun.

I would like to play online some, though. Especially if I can talk to the other players during the game.
