I have been linked to this site a few times in the last few weeks and decided to check it out. I was an avid warhammer geek while I was in the Army, which fell off when I got out and went to school. Now I'm a family man with a 9-5 and I'm trying to get back into the swing of things.

Currently I'm working on starting a new IG Army, which I'm painting with a US Army-inspired theme. Here are some test shots of my first Guardsman, which I am using to finalize what I'm going to use for the whole army:

This month I'll be doing 20x Cadians and 1x Tallarn Rough Rider. For August I'm hoping to do some Command Squads and a few more Rough Riders.

Welcome to Dakka.
I don't know if this is appropriate, but mabye you could get Cadians as the Army, and Tallarn as the ...whatever.

Also, you should probably use the Haradrim riders from the LotR set instead of the available tallarn rough riders.

They are cheaper, plastic, easilyconverted and just fine.

Just be aware they they are not allowed at in official 40k GW events. (this is because of a deal they cut with New Line Cinema.)

Really? What if you convert them with lasguns and such?
Tech them out? Paint them the same as the rest of your army?
