Just curious if it is feasible to use weathering products like the various powders etc on an already varnished model? Would of course have to seal the model again with varnish if feasible...
Anyone done this? Don't want to start weathering tanks now if they are going to be really miss matched from the units already built.
Actually the military modeling sites I have been looking through seal the basic paint job in Gloss.. then decal and weathering etc.. then Flat to seal.. then pigments then powders..
Yes, you can use weathering powders over anything really. But brush on varnishes will turn most powders into mush and ruin everything. Spray on varnishes will often give you the right effect although I know of a few powders that go quite bright with a matt varnish o.O
You'll just have to do what I did and test it on something you don't want.
Armies:
(CSM/HH) - Iron Warriors; Death Guard; World Eaters; Night Lords
IG - Vestfalian Expeditionary
Force (Solar Auxilia - HH)
SM - Blades of Inaros (Homebrew)
DE - Kabal of Ouroboros
Weathering should be doen over varnish - gloss for washes, matt for powders.
Varnish again after you're done.
Check out my gallery here Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!
