I know that if you get Pedro Kantor, Sternguard become troops. And I know that if your captain is on a bike, then bikes can be taken as troops as well.

Isn't the SM codex kind of expensive to buy when I only need to get the blodd angels one?

Anyway, I wasn't sure that if your captain has a bike (which lets you have bikes as troops) then does a captain wiv a jetpack let your assualt marinz and vanguard count as troops?

If you are using the Blood Angels codex, then you can't use the SM codex. So you don't need to worry about vanguard, Pedro, or any new high speed SM rule because you can't mix and match the two codexes.

Veteran assault marines. They're better and cheaper than the vanguard. They just can't deep strike and assault on the same turn like the vanguard does.

Yes, you can use the models, but not the rules. So why ask about the rules?
Course, I'm one of those guys that buys every codex that comes out, to include upgrading a codex if I know a second (or later) printing has been done. So IMO yes, you should still buy the codex..................

I think he just wants to know if its worth get the SM codex since they get 90% of the toy's blood angels have (- jump pack troop, baal predators and death company).

You'd hate some of our chaos players they also been using the vanilla SM's codex ... Personally i think the blood angels codex (and space wolves) should have been up dated when the space marine codex got re-released.

... Scrap that i think they should have released a single codex SM. Almost identical to the current codex but with all the special characters (but with limits so that SW, BT, DA, UM, SM super special charicters can't be used together). With the option of buying a chapter trait such as death company, combat tactics, hunt the fallen ... but then GW doesn't want you to have an easy life

Just to point out, this isn't true. The force org position of the Sternguard isn't affected, they do count as scoring though.

Agreed - it seems negligent that they didn't pay more attention to the variant SM codexs out there.

No. He can only have Honor Guard and then they aren't a retinue but a seperate HQ choice so he still gets picked out of the squad as normal. He can join Vet Assault though just like any other squad.

Eh, I thought I'd have to go out and buy BOTH, of the dexes cos I'm interested in Blood Angels, yet now (with the link to the Blud angel dex!) I am only CONSIDERING getting the vanilla codex.
