In one hand I have the Citadel spraygun, one of my best investments of last year and in the other hand I have Vallejo 70882 Middlestone, the main colour for my Valkyries. Right now I'm brushing it on with my beloved tank brush (best purchase of 1999) but I'd love to speed things up a bit. The Vallejo bottle says do not spray, but it can't really be that dangerous, right?

Has anybody ever tried spray painting with Vallejo acrylics? I'd hate having to recruit the girl in an attempt to get nine flyers done before the end of the year.

Gathering the Informations.

You SHOULD be able to do it, but if not...

You are aware they make Vallejo airbrush paints, right?

I have sprayed regular vallejo paints without any problems. You have to experiment to get the water / paint ratio right, obviously they are too thick without doing that

The do not spray message could be one of three things. First, it could be an attempt to sell you the air paints. Second, it could be that they clog airbrushes quickly so are not that useful (my normal citadel codex grey was like this). Finally, it could be because yellow and red colours use a lot of lead in the pigment, and atomising lead in the air you breath is not a good idea, but so long as you do it in a well ventilated place and ideally with a respirator then you should be fine. In fact, that colour is very commonly used on german tanks and you can see loads of people using it in airbrushes in flames of war painting tutorials.

Using a nice respirator is really essential if you do a lot of airbrushing in general. Well worth the money spent. The more expensive ones are usually a lot more comfortable.

This one is standard as pie.

I've also sprayed with regular Vallejo paints. All you have to do is water them down a decent bit. Like Legoburner said, just experiment with it a bit until you get it right.

I've never actually used the Vallejo Airbrush paints.

Hmm, I'll give mixing it properly a try this weekend and a good respirator isn't a problem thankfully with my dad working in a manufacturing plant with easy access to such things.

Thanks guys!
