Hello Dakka,
Blooming (hah! more like nurgle's best pal) 40k player here, and I hope to be a helpful/good, albeit lurker member.
I play DIY marines, The Storm Fists and DIY Tyranids, The Splinter Fleet Wendigo.
Both are around 1.5k/1.7k strong, and I am also working on the building of a few custom characters for use in friendly, FLGS matches, and a Warhound Titan.
If you Don't mind, here are some of my test paints, and pieces of the in progress Warhound. think of it like a friendly picture based introduction.
And Ultramarines from the black reach paint set(currently updated, will have pics up soon):
