Simple question, Ive used them a few times with great success against IG simply as a first turn charge is guarranteed; They can move 24 stay 12 away from a tank squadron and engage as many transports as you have models. Add that they have a STR6 double tap times 3 w/ Astartes grenade launcher and the SGT can get a Powerfist and Meltabombs.
You have a pretty efficient unit at destroying tanks. If you go first you can move up in a line and assault as many transports as viable 3 marines per transport, possibly even getting to a area of the back field. Tanks cannot move you auto hit with rear armour versus STR6 w/ Krak Grenades.
That first turn charge is very powerful.
Against Battlewagons etc.. you have meltabombs. Now this is considering you gain first turn if not you can also have the benefit of outflanking with the squad.
The squad also has a brutal antihorde template weapon w/ 6 shots rapid firing add in bolt guns twin linked, even if you tag an average of 2 models thats still 12 hits on a unit.
Overall with the game leading to mech I think theyre a good unit.

Have you actually played it, or does it look good on paper.
I ask as opponents will see your set up first (if you are trying to get first turn) and set up in response. By this, I mean proper spacing and having some type of blockers put in place. Not saying impossible by any means, but your opponents playing skill will have a significant impact on effectiveness.

I'm with Sarigar on this, that does seem like a pretty beardy list, but unless you've got Sicarius, it will be a problem, as your opponent will see where you've put your bikes and will then just counter them easily. However, if you set up second, you can put them where you want, but they'll be liable to getting killed first turn. However, if you splash out on Sicarius, then you'll have a higher chance of getting to steal the initative.

There are counters to be sure (even with Infiltrate it's not hard for your oppo to expect the Bikes and set up for them), but it's a quirky little unit. Not altogether expensive even; cheap enough to be thrown away if necessary.
Nice find, sir

I think this is an awesome application you've come up with. Scout Bikers look too good to pass up for a bunch of other reasons, too. Now to actually buy some.....
I wonder if that gear was put in with the upcoming Mech swing in mind?
The SM Honor Guard can all take AGL's, too. Just imagine 10 of them, with relic blades and AGL's charging out of a Land Raider at a Chimera squadron. 20 Krag grenade attacks, and 30 Str 6 Melee.... if my math isn't off...

I didn't call it beardy. Quite the opposite. As an Ork player, Deff Koptas fill the same role. From experience, there are some decent counters. Not sure if the posters opponents have figured it out as of yet.

Dunno about the math, but the AGLs are Rapid Fire and so they can't charge after firing them.

AGL is an assault weapon not rapid fire. The benefit with these guys is base size really; normally its difficult to spread out 2inches away ,but with the bike bases being the size that you have you can reliably spread them out over a 12 to 18 inch line and engage.
Its basically what you do with NOB bikers engaging multiple units.
What is actually interesting is to not only engage tanks but also assault units AND tanks their toughness 5, any damage results you do on the tanks is going to count for 1 in the combat resolution so if you charge 3 tanks and a 10 man squad even if you lose 2 models and manage to get 2 glances your still even on combat resolution and now your tied up in CC with a squad.
Thats pretty much the optimal way to do this is to charge a tank and a squad at the same time.

Ah, so they are. Always just assumed they were the same as the SBikers used; those are Rapid Fire, but it matters not since Bikes are Relentless.

Exactly. Please take the time to get facts straight before you make a rude comment and jump on me. I know you just don't like me, but at least go for accuracy for the sake of our readers.

I don't think there's ever been a time when 3 Scout Bikers with the sarge having a fist has been a bad FA squad if you aren't doing anything else with it.
Most games you'll pop a rhino or force them into a silly formation.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

I prefer a MM LS Storm and a 5 man suicide squad with a combi-melta/fist. Skimmers can get over the intervening blockers and let the scouts do their job.
