Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

Is it just me or are posted IG army lists just a pain in the ass to look at and decipher.

I've got no interest whatsoever in critiquing someone elses IG list...even though I really like IG.

I have never failed to seize on 4+ in my life!

It's just you. No, I understand. I think the previous codex had a couple really obvious builds, and obvious pitfalls. The new codex has a variety of options and thus it's harder to critique strengths and weaknesses. There's also not that "mathhammer" consensus of what works and doesn't. Are vanquishers always bad? Does the CCS always need a chimera? Is the Master of Ordinance a point sink? Do you even need heavy weapons in squads any more?

I know that your questions were rhetorical, blackdiamond, but there is one I can't help but answer! The master of Ordinance is not a point sink, when used in conjunction with a mortar! The mortar can be shot first, putting the "multiple barrages" rule into effect (meaning the MoO template does not scatter farther than edge-to-edge of the blast template from the mortar). That makes your barrage much more accurate and effective.

In relation to the original topic, I agree totally. There are just too many tactics and variations to really know if a list will work the way it is supposed to. There is no set formula for success yet. Give it a year or two, and you will probably see different tactics start to become more mainstream, and then you'll see the lists become more similar. Until then, I don't want to critique any lists either!

I also agree, as a long time player....if you like your army go with it. Who cares what others think about it. If you are a new player, test your army, then adjust it to your likes.
I hate seeing copycat armies, there are thousands of IG armies in the Imperium, so pease be original, and remember why you play/collect/paint this game.
I'll stop preaching now, and get back to painting/playing.

Buy Imperial War Bonds!!!

Good point, Jim. Originality means more than just how your models look.
