This is a really crazy question but if i took a Land Raider as a dedicated transport with the 5 Termies, on turn one could i jump out of the Land Raider and load it up with Zerkers?

Another question. If i take the LR as a dedicated transport for my termies, could i deploy the LR empty and have my termies in reserve? and if so, would i then be able to start the zerkers out of the empty dedicated land raider and on turn one move them into the LR?

I'm trying to find a way to field 3 LRs and 2 Defilers. I want 3 Zerker squads in the LRs and i want the Termies to be able to deepstrike.

Thanks for the help.

(i just realized that this is in the wrong section of the Forum. sorry)

Interesting...this would mean i would still be able to deepstrike my termies while keeping an open Heavy slot for my army...sounds broken

Page:67 of the hardback rulebook: "The only limitation of a dedicated transport is that when it is deployed it can only carry the unit it was bought with. After the game begins it may transport any freindly model." So no you cannot deepstrike your termies and use the LR for your beserkers.

I'm pretty certain that a dedicated transport doesn't HAVE to start the game with the unit inside, and so he could do what he's describing. If he were asking "can I take an LR as a dedicated transport, and instead of the unit, start the game with another unit inside?", I'd say no as well. But I pretty sure as he describes it, it can work.

Doesn't a dedicated transport count as part of the unit it was bought with? If so then you would not be able to hold the termies in reserve and deploy the LR since you have to hold the entire unit in reserve or none at all.

For example you couldn't choose to hold 2 infantry squad of an IG platoon in reserve and deploy the third one and the comand squad as they all count as 1 unit for deploying even though they are seperate units for moving and what not. Not sure if I stated that clearly but you get the idea.

There is no reason you could not move the termies out of the LR's first turn and load up the bezerkers though.

The plan wasn't flawed it was the people carrying out the plan!!!

Nope, its a different unit, same selection choice is all.

I refer you to all of the many discussions about transports being deployed during Dawn of War.

There is no rule that platoons must deployed in full. The rule simply says that you only make one reserves roll per platoon. It is impossible to deploy an entire platoon in dawn of war missions unless you combined squads...

If there dedicated transports for the termies, no.

Can Codex Marines, or other chapters besides Dark Angels take Land Raiders as dedicated transports? I looked through the DA codex and the FAQ and landraiders don't come in the dedicated transport flavor, only in the heavy support variety.
