Hi all, first time posting in this section of Dakka

Going to talk a little on Lost Odyssey for the Xbox 360, so if you have starting to play it or plan to play it then there are some spoilers in this thread regarding disc 1 of 4

I have recently started this game a day or so ago and I'm wondering if anyone else has found this game to be really depressing? I would have classed myself as being hard to emotionally upset, but the game covers some really heartstring pulling stories and issue's from the memories of the main character called Kaim.

For one there's a story about a small girl who can't leave a village and gets everyone to tell her stories when they pass through, and Kaim recalls his memory of telling her, her very last story whilst on her death bed. There's the wife of a man who hangs herself because of her being never being acceptable by the husbands family. And the real gut rencher for me was the in game story part where Kaim finally finds the daughter he thought was dead only to loose her moments later. With the son and daughter (his grandchildren) crying at her bed side, made worse when part of the game makes you collect items for the funeral.

I happen to be a bit of a tough guy in this respect but even I have to admit that it was very emotional and very difficult to stand off from it. Has anyone else noticed the depressive nature of this Game? Is this really an appropriate game for adults, young adults and children? The game has a 16+ certificate, but I know that there are 8yr olds playing GTA so would not be suprised if they play this game too.

I just think the game is looking into some very real and very difficult reallife issue's that most adults in this world can relate to and will find them depressive when seen and forced to sit through, even though I understand that this is meant to be fictional I find it far too realistic. Younger people may not have experienced the things covered in the stories in their own lives so might be harder for them to fully understand the issue's on the same level as one who has.

I would like to hear the opinions from gamers young and old of what you think of this game. My understanding is that younger players may feel differently about the game as an adult would, but I'd like to hear your views nevertheless as i know there are many mature young people out there. (I'll be ignoring any comments about me being a big baby or wuss etc, those comments just prove that you have no concept of sensible debate and immaturity. If you don't find it depressig then please post constructively that you don't)

Many thanks
