Okay, I just started eldar and I want to paint Saim-Hann (Although my army list isn't very fluffy). I can't get the paint to stick well though. I used chaos black to prime it, then let it dry. But now, whenever I try to add colors, it slides off. Any tips?

I like emoticoms.

Foundation paint should help. Red is very hard to get to stick on black.
Another way is to mix blood red + skull white, then paint on top, followed by red

The red foundation paint is your best bet. I did some Bloodletters and had a similar problem. I hit em with the red foundation then the color scheme I wanted and it worked great.

I do what the voices in my wifes head say...

Painting red on black is fairly difficult to do quickly, yeah, as Aurelion mentioned.

What works for me is to use a darker color of red first, and then to paint additional layers of lighter red from there. This serves the dual purpose of building up a solid bit of red and providing a little bit of natural shading to the model.

Example of this red here. I used, IIRC, Vallejo equivalents of Red Gore and Blood Red on those.

Your signature looked really cool as it loaded.

Cap'n Gordino's instant grammar guide:
"This is TOO expensive." "I'm going TO the store, TO get some stuff."
"That is THEIR stuff." "THEY'RE crappy converters."
"I put it over THERE." "I'll go to the store THEN."
"He knows better THAN that." "This is NEW." "Most players KNEW that."

About to eat your Avatar...

It is pretty hilarious how your title says "Flower picking Eldar youth" and you seem to have collected every single image you can fit in your sig.

"Note"
would suffice along with a quote, but I suspect your sig will change in time.

Try just doing a layer of red then on top red ink then lighter red I think that system works pretty well but yea the foundation would be good too.

do some red gore. That should stick well. Then put some blood red, or whatever color you are trying to use, on top of that.

What primer are you using - sounds like you may have used standard black gloss?
Was the temperature at an extreme - ie very hot or very cold.
Thus can greatly affect the way chaos black primer (& other makes) works.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

If you plan on painting in a saim han sceme it's a truly bad idea to use black primer, go for white or at least grey, but not black. if your paint still won't stick, give the dry minis a quick dip in metho and leave them to dry, just in case you got some oil on them (from your fingers).
