Sargeant by himself. I love these conversions. They're easy to do and I think they look a lot better than the bald headed sargeant model.

I agree on the plasma guns, although if you blended it a little more to make it look like it was from the heat, that would be pretty awesome. Right now it just looks like the tips are red.

Here's my colonel... Always pay the points for the boltgun too... not that it's effective at all... the paint job isn't quite done as it still needs some details and better highlighting.

I am liking it so far it looks very sharp
I especially like the usage of excess parts on the chimera
what did you use for the stormtroopers converted heads ie the serg?

Not bad, although I'm not too sure one the duoble shoulderpads on the Colonel. And you definetly should've cleaned up the mouldlines on the helmet before painting.
Nor am I a fan of the kinda heavy drybrushed highlight, but it could be due to the pics.
Question : What is the Chimaera suppused to be armed with and why did you decide to retain the gunshield on the assaultcannon-thingie? It looks really..bad imho.
Oh, and one more thing. It's always nice to see some Kasrkin, they are amongst the best looking guardsman minis. ever.

Hey,
I like your minis. You drybrushed them only, didn't you?
The only thing, I would criticize, is your 'Melta-Gatling-Gun' of the guardsman in the first pic.
I don't like this conversation, however you have converted everything else very well/good ( don't know, what's the right form )
And another (small) remark, Hoffen had said before, you should claense your models of moldlines...
Best regards

Love the twin-shoulderpad look on your Col. What did you do? Just hollow out a second Guard shoulder? However you did it, it looks really good, though now he looks as if he needs some bulk on his legs too. Some kneepads or shin guards or something would top it off
The Chaos-Kraut wrote:The only thing, I would criticize, is your 'Melta-Gatling-Gun' of the guardsman in the first pic.
Where do you see any melta referance? I think it's just an Assault Cannon. The blue hose is probably just a cooler line.

Just wanted to say thanks for the great critiques. I'm always looking to improve my stuff.
Gaznab wrote:I am liking it so far it looks very sharp

The converted head was just a head I sawed off another Kasrkin. I sawed off the bald head on the sargeant and glued the helmeted head on. It's a bit of a pain but it works well. They are just drybrushed. I still need to add details and yeah I know I should've cleaned them. I didn't for the same reason I drybrush... laziness .
With the Chimera, I was going for that armored cupola look you see on light armored vehicles sometimes. Just wondering why it looks bad. Do you not like the design, did I not do the conversion well, or is it something else. What could make it not look bad do you think? Automatically Appended Next Post: The Chaos-Kraut wrote:

Again, just wondering why you don't like it. Do you not like the way the overall gun looks? Did I convert it badly? Again, what could improve it?
Again, great critiques... thanks... Automatically Appended Next Post: metallifan wrote:Love the twin-shoulderpad look on your Col. What did you do? Just hollow out a second Guard shoulder? There are spare shoulderpads that come with the Baneblad/Shadowsword models. They're really tiny and a real pain to make sure you don't drop under your painting table while you're gluing them on. When I originally did the model, I thought about doing knee pads and then scrapped that idea. Maybe I'll revisit it...
There're more pictures of my colonel in my gallery. The one I posted here is a real closeup and maybe from other angles he doesn't look so top heavy. If people could check them out and let me know if he looks too top heavy, that would be great. Then I'd go add stuff to his legs like ammo pouches of kneepads.
Again thanks...

Great work overall, but I also have a problem with the melta-gunner turned assault-cannoner. I think the problem is that the scale looks off, not the fact that you put it together poorly. He seems to be holding the gigantic gun too high and in front of himself so it looks awkward. At the same time, these are 40k miniatures so most complaints about gun size and looking too big are irrelevant. Also, to quickly echo other people's desire for mold line cleaning. It certainly is a pain in the ass (especially on metal), but the eye immediately goes to it; even more so in a close up picture.

Yeah that makes sense. I was kind of modeling it after the old Warzone models that had gatling guns. It's also the size of the bit I was working with. That's the gatling blaster from the original metal Warlord Titan circa mid 90's. I thought it looked great on the Kasrkin with the flamer and I was going to make more. Maybe not now .

The kroot models have very tiny shoulder pads that might work for a knee pad.

I have a few kroot pads in my bits box. Want me to check if they fit well?
Edit: Fits a guardsman almost perfectly across but its a bit too long, from the knee to just below the armour on his boot
Double Edit: Btw those Kasrkin look pretty good. You should saw off the Sergeants extra helmet though.

I was referring to the main armament of the chimeara. It looks like you stuck an assault cannon with a gun-shield where the autocannon used to go on a predator turrent. Or is it just thje angle of the pic?
Predator turrets and chimearas are a match made in polystyrene heaven! So, yeah, I do like the overall design of your chimaera, just not the look of it's main armament.
Keep it up!

So basically I need to add some bits to make it look like it really belongs there. It's actually not an assault cannon but a gatling blaster from the original old metal warlord titan. It's supposed to represent a multilaser, which I think is made clearer when my army's on the table since all of my chimeras have the same gun.
Either way, I appreciate the feedback...

Ahh. Now I get it! Thanks!
Suggestion : remove the mantlet/shield surrounding the multilaser/gatling blaster and put it where the autocannon used to go. I think it would look great!

1)Well, my suggestion for improvement is something like an ammunation-belt or a magazine/charger for the Gatlinggun.
2)The cooling-hose - Only old machineguns like the Maxim-one had water-coolers and, I'm not a soldier, so I don't exactly know, but I'm sure, that European armies DON'T USE weapons with water coolers... so why should the Imperial army use them, in the 41th century???
3)The actual conversation is not bad!
Here some pics (2)
