Subject: Using Recovered Golden Age Tech?

This is a question from a friend, but I would love to hear you thoughts (because though I know a lot of fluff, Imperial restrictions of old tech isn't my niche).
"Would the Imperium use recovered Golden Age technology, even if it went against established, accepted dogma?"
Example: If a model of Power Armour was recovered that increased the wearer's psychic power exponential, and the armaments attached were more powerful than standard Imperial weaponry of M41; would it be accepted or destroyed?
He is the GM of our current Dark Heresy match, so I think he wants concrete information so his campaign doesn't bend against written fluff.
Thoughts?

I see no reason why they wouldn't, the Artificer/Power Armour would only be available to Inquisitors and Librarians. Its not like the armor would have a daemon bound into or anything.
As for using GA tech see STCs as most of them are GA tech.

That's what I had suggested. Any normal person would be overcome by the Warp anyway if they attempted to don his example armour.

It would depend on the circumstances in which they found it but it is most likely that they would push it into service.

the Baneblade is recovered Golden Age technology. It was apparently one of humanity's weakest tanks.

I think that it would be kept, because if it is Golden Age technology that isn't heretical or anything, the Adeptus Mechanicus would probably try to mass produce it to give it to Inquisitors or Librarians, making them THE ULTIMATE WEAPONS!!!

Here is another nugget from his brain that he wanted me to bounce off you guys:
"The Imperium discovers a human world that has lost the knowledge of mechanical technology and instead relies on bio-technology. For example, their cities are vast grown trees. How would the Imperium react?"
Now, he didn't mention if the bio-tech was GA-tech at all or not, but what are your thoughts?

It probably depends on how the humans on the planet react to Imperial intervention.
If they were willing to share their technology with the Adeptus Mechanicus they might be allowed to keep it. After all, there's a lot of bio-technology already in the Imperium.
This is assuming it's not alien or warp based technology, of course, which would probably get them firebombed.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

Like my computer.
Just kidding.
I really think it all depends on how those humans got the bio-tech. If they invented it without outside help, it might be welcomed (or deemed heretical). If there was anything un-human about the bio-tach, then see above for result.

wait, im still stuck on the bane blade being a weak tank... o.O are there examples of a 'moderately capable' tank? and does this mean that GW will eventually bring out even larger tanks and ramp up the destruction further?

No, the Baneblade is the most Destructive tank the Imperium has. It WAS a weak tank back when they had better tech, but that is all irrevocably lost.

That doesn't mean we won't find those STCs soooome day!! Some day when GW needs to make even more money off us. Would you pay $120 for a Capitol Imperialis for example?

NO.
Some drop ships - maybe. T-hawks or stormbirds - hangs on their price tag.
But capitol imperialis, why not scratch build? Get a RC tank as chassis, some "shrine of the aquila" sprues and copy some FW guns.
And their moneymaker seems to be those Titans.
STC aren't lost, just not found yet.
BoT:
Trees arent that useful, maybe something to eat could find mercy in those imperials eyes.
More small and lightweigth, but nutritious food for IG come in mind.
