Sorry for the re-post but i posted this in the wrong section last time.
Would i be able to take a Chaos land raider as a dedicated transport for termies and start the game deploying an empty land raider and having my termies in reserve? This would free up a heavy slot while allowing me to deep strike with my termies.
I'm trying to make it so i can run 3 Land raiders and 2 Defilers. This sounds really broken to me but i'm getting mixed answers from different people.
Thanks and sorry again for the re-post

Yes, you can do that.
However, it's not broken. Quite possibly competitive, debatedly less so than Lash of Submission/Oblit builds, but certainly not broken.
3x Termicide combi melta x3
Dedicated Land Raider x3
Defiler x2 or 3
3-4x Rhino Marines with meltas and Icons to guide deep striking Terminators
For a casual list it'll do fine. You'll probably even be okay as a competitive list.

You should be getting the same answer from everyone: You don't have to put units in their dedicated transports. So, yes, of course your Terminators can Deep Strike while their Land Raiders fight empty on the ground. That said, you may want to consider what else is in your army, and whether you want those Terminators assaulting out of Land Raiders, or landing somewhere between T2-T7 inclusive and having to shoot their way into combat. If you have some squads of Chaos Space Marines in Rhinos with Icons, then I think it might be a good idea, since the Icons give you pinpoint accuracy. Otherwise, I think if you have the Land Raiders available, then you should use them to deliver the Terminators.

I was actually planning on jumping Zerkers into the Land Raiders. Not sure if thats ok to do either since their dedicated to the termies. i would deploy with the Zerkers out of the LR then on turn one they jump in and they LR take off. I love assaulting zerkers out of the LR. That way i can tie stuff up before the termies deepstrike and wreck everything.
Let me know how that sounds...thanks for the fast replies. I greatly appeiciate it.

Nope that is fine, you just cannot start the game with them inside, they have to embark Turn 1.

Bad_Sheep37:
Dedicated transports used to be, back in 4th edition, such that they could only transport the unit they were dedicated to. Now, in 5th, it's just the case that dedicated transports are only limited to carrying the unit they're dedicated to (and any attached Independent Characters) when they're deployed. So it's certainly a tactic to try, but it leaves your Berzerkers outside of a transport on the first turn, and if you don't get the first turn they could get fried pretty easily.

It does work, but only if you're really aggressive since land raiders are such fire-magnets.

Wow thats awesome. You guys helped me out so much. I was thinking about this freaking rule and trying to make it work for days haha. I'm only going to have 2 Zerker squads out of the LR on turn 1. I will prob just bate them into firing at a juicier target on turn one.
Thanks for the help everyone. I'll be posting my army list as soon as i get the points worked out.
