By strict wording in the daemon hunter codex it doesn't state that it causes "instant death", but "kills outright". By RAW this means that it can insta-kill anything. That's right, all multi wound models can be brought low by this weapon, even those who are immune to instant death.

However be aware you will find people of other opinions on this site I'm sure (naming no names I can think of 1 straight off).

Forever alone

The rules were written when Instant Death existed, so it does affect model immune to instant death, e.g. Daemons, which makes sense anyway.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I may well be wrong, but doesnt the new BGB overrule old edition dexes with the "force weapons do X" rules? I mean, Grey Knights shouldnt have access to DIFFERENT force weapons to SPESS MAHRINES (hurr?), and yet they work differently if you follow the army dex there... *shrugs* Not my problem, I play guard (Ohnoes, you instant deathed a bodyguard)

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.

Nope.

Specific Codex Rule> General BGB Rule

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

No, the Book does not automatically overrule older codex. For the OP: Please do a search on the forum with "Nemesis Force Weapon", "Instant Death", "slays outright" as keywords. This exact same topic ( which seems to crop up with depressing regularity ) has been discussed to death.

In this case the DH Codex has a description on how a certain piece of gear works, and that is the rule you use. When checking rules use the following marching order: 1) Codex Errata, 2) Codex, 3) Rulebook Errata, 4) Rulebook. Nemesis Force Weapons have not been errated so they still use their own mechanism that allows them to eliminate Deamons, Tyranids and other things that are immune to the Instant Death- rule.

It's a matter of names. A force weapon causes instant death.

a nemesis force weapon slays outright.

If it hadn't been labeled a nemesis force weapon, but just force weapon, the RB would overrule.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

Fair enough, if foolish. Remind me to whine about it to someone next time i'm at warhammer world... (along with OH SO MANY other things that really need 5 minutes of work to fix)

Just a nitpick here, but thats wrong. If the NFW had said "Look to the rulebook for the rules", then it would be. However, it has it's own special rules contained in the codex. It could be called a Force Weapon and still use it's special rules, because codex trumps rulebook special rules.
