Just fishing for opinions here. Per SHOCK TACTICS - Hellions would be allowed to Assault after Deep Strike because the DS rule is in their unit entry. DE Characters ( ie Archon ) can purchase a Hellion Skyboard ( allows the model to Deep Strike ) from the Wargear section. Would this allow them to Assault after DS as well, or should it be played they can't because the character's unit entry does not mention Deep Strike ?

RaW, they cannot, because they do not have it in their unit entry, unit entry being a VERY specific thing.

of course, the example for the SHOCK TACTICS rule shows assault marines as being able to use it while they do not have Deep Strike in thier unit entry either, but rather are allowed to Deep Strike due to thier unit type.

Basically, this is a horribly written rule and you will have to discuss it with your opponent before most games if you intend to use it.

Why do you think this is badly written. Does an Archon have DS in his abilties? No. Give a chaplin a jet pack - does he have DS in his abilties? No. Neither of them are assault specialists so why read into it the rule is badly written.

The assault marine example doesn't work because either character is just attached to the unit that has the DS abiltity. Just because that part is bad doesn't make the rest of rule bad.

Sorry, but assault marines do not have Deep Strike in their unit entry Either. Neither do Terminators in Fact.
