hi
I have a couple questions that came up in my last match
I am an ork player and was playing an IG army. 1250point match .

Q1 : indirect fire weapons and line of sight .
if a unit/ vehicle has true line of sight can they fire an indirect fire weapon as an indirect fire weapon ? or do they need to use the weapon as a direct fire weapon ?
The guard player for some reason thought he could not fire one of his guns which was an indirect fire weapon as an indirect fire weapon because he had true line of sight on my guys .

Q2 : the leadership check when an INFANTRY unit is hit with an ork deff rolla .
if an infantry unit being tank shocked by an ork battle wagon passes it's morale check do they avoid taking any of the D6 S10 wounds or do they still take the wounds .

my understanding is that the wounds are inflicted by the action of the tank shock , and the leadership check does not change the fact that the unit was tank shocked , the leadership check only determines if the unit flees as a result of being tank shocked . so the wounds are inflicted weather the unit being tank shocked passes the moral/ leadership check or not . This is the way it has always been played as I understand , but I could be wrong .

I don't need to know anything about how or if a deff rolla affects vehicles , I asked this deff rolla infantry question in a different forum ,and it was like rolling 1 on your WAAAGH! it turned into a squabble about vehicles . this questions is about infantry units and the deff rolla only .

Thanks for your help , these are a few small issues that came up in the game , and I said I would try to find out b4 our next match so we can make sure we get it right next time if we did anything wrong this time .

Q1: It is the player's prerogative assuming the range minimum is met for indirect fire.

Q2: They still take the wounds. Just because you're brave about it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt getting all mashed up.

A1: IIRC, the Barrage weapon would could as direct fire for the purposes of cover saves or something because he has TLOS to the target.

A2: Again IIRC, they still take the hit BUT (as my group plays) if the Tank Shocked unit succeeds a Death or Glory! attack (immobilizes, wrecks, or detonates the vehicle) then the Deff Rolla' never strikes the squad because the squad removed the threat before it reached them. Because, for example, a vehicle immobilized by Death or Glory! stops 1" from the unit and the unit does not move.

Direct fire would be more likely to give a cover save, one would probably use direct fire to minimize scatter (as indirect doesn't subtract your bs).

And the wording on the Deff Rolla is clear, you receive the 2nd d6 wounds for attempting the "Death or Glory!". It doesn't stop spinning just because you get closer.

The infantry takes the d6 hits, but has always an armor save since the deffrolla is AP - .

Actually, Barrage still subtracts BS if you have LOS to the target............... The only time it does not subtract BS if there is no LOS. Barrage rules, page 32.
