The rush and crush thing is totally counterable with effective team-work. Annihilation games are best for attrition matches, and they tend to get quite intense about half-way through. All in all a good team will always win against a newer one, simply because of the economics of the game. If you know how to micromanage a resource lane, and stay there all game you can become the main target for the other team. If they are not attacking you you are getting resources, if they are attacking you you can effectively conserve your resources making the fight in your favor regardless of losses. Tackling defensive positions has no place in the game, it is all about finesse and proper application of force. Micromanagement is pretty simple because you aren't managing an entire game-economy, the points just come in as you capture areas. It is a math game overall, but twitchy always wins against rationality.
I played for a bit and the game has changed since I last had a game but the techmarine is probably the most useless hero in the game. The force commander is pretty cool and he is a total early game character, while the apothecary really needs back-up to perform effectively.
I liked eldar but got annoyed and a bit bored with their unit choices. My friend has played a lot more than I have and he figured out some pretty cool tricks, a.k.a d-cannon and bright lance combos backed up by fire prisms and a Warlock. The Warlock was the most
OP unit in the game when I played last, his power spam special is just uber-pwnage against swarms. Just go in there and keep doing the ground crunch power, they can't even run away, you are too fast

Assault marines are just unfair, and I am not sure if they have fixed them yet. The ability to take down any platform, tangle any hero, and kill any tank, combined with a jump-pack is just way too much for anything besides a swarm army. Then you just use ASM and
Tac marines with flamers, backed up by some
dev squads.
Fun game, I just wish I could play it on my computer
