Hey kids
So, I'm trying to build a "general" list that will work well for most armies. I usually play around 2000 pt "friendly" games, not into tournaments. My army will consist of:
1 platoon with
PCS with grenade launchers & vox, 2 squads with just flamers, maybe 1 commissar so I can merge the unit, and also up to 2 units worth of lascannons. I don't like to stick heavy weapons in the infantry squads, I prefer to have the squads more mobile.
2 units of vets with 3 meltaguns each & shotguns, possibly adding demolitions to them, each mounted in a valkyrie w/ rocket pods
that's the bulk of my force, for tanks I can do up to 3 hellhounds, 2 basilisks, 1 russ and 1 demolisher, and also 2 chimeras. I hope to one day add a manticore and deathstrike so I can toss scuds at people.
So, what should I do for my
HQs? basic low point unit to hang back with the lascannon squads and give them orders to shoot better? tooled up for combat to support the vets? I also have the comissar lord model and the primaris psyker, 10 ratlings and all 3 advisors and sly marbo. I also want to build a 3rd vet unit with harker and a regular heavy bolter team for a nice anti infantry squad.
Also, in the old rules I used to have an inquisitor lord for my 2nd
hq slot and in the fluff for my army he was the real leader and the guard were working for him. I'd like to keep that theme going and possibly use my inquisitor model as a "proxy" for a company commander just to keep things all in 1 codex. he'd travel around with his same old 3 plasmagunners and his 2 mystics would become 2 bodyguards and I could add a vox guy in there too or a standard bearer? or a medic?
It just seems like
CCS squads can really eat up the points quick, so I'm wondering how I should set up my
HQs? I'd like to do that inquisitor
CCS for fluff, so would a 2nd
CCS be good? or the psyker? or the inquisitor lord? how about a priest to join the infantry blob?
thoughts?
