What's your favorite SSB Brawl character and why?
Mine's Meta Knight because he can fly for a long time, has fast attacks, and is hard to kill.

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy. |

Brawl meh. I played it and its nothing but an average fighting game. takes no skill to win. the only reason it sold so much is its collection of chracters

I shudder at your blatant Xbox fanboyism. The SSB series is actually very different from other fighting games and has it's own playstyle and feel. The large collection of popular characters is just a huge bonus. I wish Soul Caliber let me play has that many characters.
My favorite character is Ike. He hits as hard as the bruisers, but is smaller and lighter on his feet. You can't trade hits like you can with the big characters, but if you dance a little, the blows you land are devastating.

I find your nintendo fanboyism bisturbing.
Nearly every major magizine said that. Besides whats wrong with liking xbox better. is is considerd the best console out there.
Also how is it different.

Also how is it different.
Differences from every other fighting game:
1) SSB is a 2D brawler, whereas other fighting games are 3D
2) SSB allows up to 4 people to play at once, and allows up to 8 characters onscreen in special scenarios. Other fighting games allow 2 people to play, and only 2 characters onscreen.
3) SSB makes use of items that your character can pick up and use. Other fighting games don't.
4) Regular fighting games include many combos you can perform through intricate button combinations. SSB is simpler, instead getting you to make up your own combos from the moves provided. (This is great for people on the more casual level, because it means you have a chance even though you haven't memorized that you have to push up-up-B-B-left-A-kick to throw a left hook)
5) SSB includes a side-scrolling adventure mode as it's main campaign. This can be played through in co- op mode. Other fighting games don't allow co- op (aside from that awful Soul Caliber spin-off)
6) SSB has a huge number of different stages on which to fight, and all of them have a large impact on how the game is played. Most other fighting games include fewer options, most of which are the standard 'square with walls' 'circle without walls' 'square with three walls and a pit'
7) Most SSB game types require you to knock your opponent off the level to kill them. While this is an option in other fighting games, the focus is on KOs.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to say that SSB games are better than other fighting games. (though I do enjoy playing them more) The point is that SSB games are very different from conventional fighting games. So, saying that you didn't like Brawl because it was just an average fighting game is pretty weak, since Super Smash Brothers invented it's own genre, which is a more social form of brawler. Like much of what nintendo's been doing, the focus isn't on hardcore gaming, but on getting together with friends and having a good time, which Smash Bros does better than other fighting games, thanks to it's co- op, accessibility, and number of players.
Also, here's a non-nintendo source that says the game is dynamite. Can you link me some of these awful reviews?

they didnt give them awful reviews. They just said that.
Also the fact that any kid can go up and pick an item to pretty much destroy them makes it so you dont need to have any real experiance.

9.5/10 doesn't say 'it's an average fighting game'. That's pretty damn good. Let's look at what Halo 3 got.
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/821/821911p1.html
9.5/10 too. I guess that means Halo 3's just an average shooter with master chief.
Also, you can't just pick up an item and auto win. The closest item to that, the final smash, flies around and has to be destroyed by hand, and can be beaten out of you by other players. I can easily beat someone with a beam sword if I don't have an item.
I mean, it's not like there's a Spartan Laser in SSB:B. I mean, I suck at Halo, but I've gotten triple kills with it with one shot, against experienced players.

garret - Brawl is not intended for the "Intense Gamer" type. As such, yes, for the most part, it is a button masher, and anyone can win. But that is the target audience for the game. If you don't care for it, fine. It's not your cup of tea - it happens. It's the same reason why I don't play lots of RTS's - I'm not a fan of that style of gaming, so it doesn't appeal to me and I don't derive much entertainment from them.
Because I don't like them doesn't necessarily make it a "bad game". That'd be like me saying that because I don't care for RTSs, that Starcraft is a horrible game - which is patently false.
Also keep in mind that EVERY game for the most part can become a much more involved game once players understand the nuances of the system and utilize them in-game. You'd be amazed at how little an inexperienced player can do when fighting against a very very good player even in Brawl.
So, garret, please do me a favor, 'cause I see this in a lot of your posts -
First, for the love of god, take a little more time in properly putting down your thoughts. I can assure you people will tend to respect a lot more of your opinions when you write them legibly. I know you keep saying you're trying, but you need to try a little harder.
Second, and this one goes for life in general - I sincerely hope you get rid of this mentality of "I don't like this therefore it is objectively horrible". It's a remarkably horrible way to look at the world and sadly is far more common than it should be.
