About to eat your Avatar...

I am studying and working as a general designer currently. I have no real favorite art, as is with music for me. I prefer simple stuff with intricate designs by default, but some of my favorite stuff is very simple in form and detail.

I'd like this to be a place where you can share images and video of anything you consider art. Rules of DakkaDakka will have to be followed of course, and there is no need to show offensive imagery here (per the Dakka rules) but non-photo "art" is usually more acceptable. Sharing your own art is totally kosher, as long as you host elsewhere.

REMEMBER: DO NOT USE THE ATTACHMENT FEATURE TO UPLOAD NON WAR-GAMING IMAGES TO THE SERVER

Here is a few things I found online, I will mainly be focusing on images, rather than video. Wait... there is one video actually.

Good art AND good music, you can't go wrong.

Here is a bit of info on the art-form itself (apparently Scotty doesn't know... but I am not sure what it is? Is this a new style of music?)

Thanks, I hope to see a bunch more soon.

I keep seeing a black bar at the bottom of my first post though, it appears to be blocking a couple pictures. Not sure how to fix that one.

Some of those are very cool!

Here are some pieces/artists I like.

My favorite classic art piece.

The pure mischief in this kid's face!

I'm a fan of Ron Cobb's Sci-Fi stuff.

Also really like both Mike Ploog and Simon Bisley. Here's a double from them.

I love Mike Allred's ultra clean comic style.

Also love Naismith's Rivendell.

I prefer fetish and tasteful nude photography, which for obvious reasons cannot be linked here. I also enjoy random game concept art for some reason, the rough lines and crude strokes used to convey an idea or concept are most interesting to me.

I hear ya' BrookM, not too into the fetish stuff most of the time though.

Here is some concept art that I thought was quite cool.

This one just looks cool, DAMN YOU GOOGLE SEARCH!

This made me laugh though.

Yet again, just cool, where are the simple drawings all of these artists do? It is like my favorite game concept art.

Awesome. I may have to add something like the tentacles to my current project.

Oooh, here we go.

Me'ow, why how purrty you are ().

Awesome again.

I like the feel of this one, nice background.

This one was just way too cool to not add in.

Forever alone

My favourite thing in this thread is the gratuitous amount of boobs.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

The types of art i like : something enchanting! something that can change our current emotions, something that can tell a story or convey the artist's feeling with just a picture.
Basically any type of medium that can express those feelings i consider them as "art"

I'm an art lover as well, I also have a broad category of what art is. Therefore, I like all kinds of art. I stay away from Anime, though. I'm not a fan of that.

This isn't just 'cause I'm a big nerd, but my favorite artist is John Blanche.

Very cool pics, Wrex.

I like the Tau aesthetic a lot. Circles and rectangles--a heavy theme in Mass Effect, too. I'd really recommend the "art of" book for that game.

Also, looking at your sketch: do you like Egon Schiele?

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

I really like this one...

This is one of my favorite nude photos. It's not porn but it's NSFW either so link if you want to see it.

I also like concept sketches as they often capture something a final doesn't, more raw I guess...

I really like this guy called Louis Wain. Louis Wain really liked drawing cats.

The guy has some talent, but it isn't very interesting. I mean it's interesting that he drew nothing but cats, but cats is cats. Except he started changing it up, anthropomorphising the cats.

So now you've got slightly creepy pictures of cats. But something was happening to Louis Wain, and you could see it in his art. Louis Wain began to suffer from schizophrenia, and was institutionalised for it. It didn't stop him painting cats, but it certainly changed the way he painted them.

So that's the story of a guy who really liked cats, who went crazy and had that affect his art in the most amazing way. But he never stopped liking cats.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I really like whoever did the old pin-up girls from the 30s and 40s. They were able to capture the female form in a really nice why. They also made them sexy, but minus the sheer slutiness of todays smut.

As a quasi-engineer, Frank Lloyd Wright has always had an appeal to me as well.
