last night i had my squadron of 2 armored sentinels assaulted by a hive tyrant. he inflicted 3 penetrating hits and i didn't know how to distribute them between the two walkers. can i allocate all 3 pens to one of them?

Wound allocation is just like a normal unit so 2 on one and 1 on the other. 40kRB pg64 3rd paragraph under Shooting Phase
