-Drop Harker, heavy weapons from the Vet squads and load them in Chimeras
-Drop the Commissar lord and Straken as well as the carapace armour. Don't really know why you'd need 2 bodyguards; probs trade them for an Inq with 2 mystics
-Drop the power weapon/fist from the Vet Sergeants
-Drop the Grenadiers and up them to 3 meltas each
-You can probably get an extra Vet squad with 3 meltas and Chimera

-Trade Vanq + spare points (drop a Basilisk if you need it) for a demolisher or executioner with PC sponsons

with normal space marines (my usual opponents) yes, ...... AFTER I blast them with strakens Plasma pistol and the four melta guns, and the two heavy bolters from the chimera. the first vet squad goes and does the same thing with two meltas.... because that's all I have, I need more. I mean with the Commissar his Command squad gets

ah.. against MEQs that might actually be fairly effective. Given Guard's low points cost and MEQs high ones you'll probably kill far more than you'll take. Will be good vs termies

yeah that's pretty much all I ever play against CSM, marines, deathwing, deathwing, tau, tyranids, CSM, IG, SoB. I bring templates for the pesky 4+ save tau, and well IG. 3+ saves are everywhere in my group down here, the same guy that plays SoB plays IG, and also has 13th company that he lets loose ever now and then.

Agree that basilisks are quite hard to use on an ordinary size table. You're either in sight (and very fragile) or out of sight (and wildly inaccurate). Leman Russes could be better. Straken is a perfectly good choice but the commissar lord is a very expensive way of getting a few power weapon attacks.

I think you want all of your troops in chimeras if possible. 10 T3 models are toast if they're the only exposed infantry on the board at the start of the game.

I am not very impressed by the vanquisher. 2d6 to penetrate sounds great, but it's only one shot a turn at BS3, even if you penetrate the damage roll isn't AP1 or anything, so you have to be lucky to take out a tank.

STs are just weird. IF they're deepstriking the PGs will rapid fire and then you can't charge and use the power weapon. Also what you're using them for can be done far more effectively and cheaply by Veterans.

-Change Harker's squad to be like the other two (melta)
-Drop the Power Fists:
NEW RULE: NO POWER WEAPONS/FISTS WITH WS3 1W Models!!!! (and yes that did need capitals and exclamation marks).

If you want fire support get some half decent tanks or an infantry platoon with heavy weapons (cheap and has enough bodies to protect the heavy weapon).
-Colossus minimum range will hurt you in pretty much any game. Trade it for another Vet squad or use it to upgrade your other Leman Russ.
-Same with the Manticore.
-Also i'd trade the CL for a CCS

Ok, I think its time for some clarification here. What is it exactly that you want this army to be? I see that you really like the Veterans so I'm guessing your looking at a really experienced little company of men. What I don't get it what you want your main theme to be? Do you want this to be some artillery company, armored, pure vets, CC? Are you looking for a competitive list? Tell us what the general idea is for what you want to make and THEN we can help you.

I think the Colossus' minimum range is going to hurt you; I'd drop them to Medusas.
This gives you an extra 10 points and i'd consider doing the following:
Dropping the PP on the Vet SGT (+10), Demo/Gren (+60)
-Using these 80 Pts you can up your LRBT to an Executioner with PC Sponsons (a deadly force in any army)

Also make your Chimeras into turret Multi Laser + Hull HF. The HB is alot worse than either the Multi Laser or a HF!

in most instances yes but the ML is AP 6, granted I need the strength to make marines take armor saves since neither are ap 3, also I REALLY like the colossus, its ap 3 and ignores cover saves. Which since I fight marines 3/4 of the time is nice. and if you place them at opposing ends of the board they cover the whole board. or at least if they are in that 24 inches they're within PG range.

yes but it does not ignore cover. Something the Colossus does very well. Great for smoking out marine units into the open for my plasma/melta gunners to finish them off.
