I was in a very crazy game the other day. It was a 2 v 2 v 2 game, with each army using 2000 points each, total of 12000 points. I was a team by myself, using Tyranid and Tau. There was a CSM/SM team and an IG/Eldar team. There were 6 control points, and each control point you owned gave you a point every turn. Game to 15 points. We were tired of the regular GW games.

The CSM army teleported 9 obliderators, 2 squads of termies, Abbadon, and a beefed up Lord on a Beast of Nurgle an IG/Eldar control point. 3 obliderators plug the Avatar with plasma shots, the Avatar rolls like a champion and only takes one wound. The avatar runs into CC and kills the obliderators. The Eldar/IG army bascially gave up on the control point but the Avatar was trapped. He charged into close combat against Abbadon, a 200 point lord on a beast, and 3 obliderators. He already has one wound. He kills an 2 obliderators and the lord in his attack. He takes 2 more wounds after Abbadon rolls a 6, giving him a total of 10 attacks. Next turn, the Avatar kills the obliderator and puts Abbadon down to 1 wound and then dies. The most amazing moment ever. The avatar kills well over 500 points and takes the best HQ in the game down to 1 wound.

But that is not the end. The next turn Abbadon runs into CC against 3 lone guardsmen (the sergeant had already killed a termie with his chainsword.) Abbadon rolls like crap and kills 2 of the guardsmen. The lone sergeant attacks and wounds Abbadon. AND HE ROLLS A ONE. A lone guardsmen takes down the most feared person in the universe.

Overall the Avatar and 3 guardsmen HELD the control point against Abbadon, 3 obliderators, and a mega beefed up chaos lord.

Do you have any legendary stories?

Out of all of that, I think my favorite part is where the guardsman kills Abbadon.

I think my favorite part is where he refers to Abbadonna as the best HQ.

Way to go, guard! Take the glory from the avatar!

This happened over two matches so bear with me.

1st Match: My Inquistor duels with the Avatar for 5 turns straight, getting it down to one wound, passing all her invos and avoiding Insta Death till that last turn.

2nd: Inquisitor gos at the Avatar again, with the backup of 2 crusaders. Avatar fails, Hammerhand from Inquisitor takes off a wound then the 2 crusaders come charging in, all attacks hit, 4 wounds, Avatar fails...again.

That Inquisitor squad went on to kill some Dire Avvangers, A pathfinder squad and a little old guy called Eldrad. Revenge? (evil grin)

Forever alone

I once managed to prove Gwar! wrong.

Once.

Sort of.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Now you have to make a special model representing that Guardsman. Sending Abbadon back to the Warp is the shizzle. Maybe that sergeant cracked abby in the jewels or something.

Low blows always take a man down. Go guard!

Ya lone guardsmen do that. I have had a guardsmen squad kill Warbosses when being charged. Had them kill Chaos lords best units in the game in CC you just gotta find that one guy in the army that wants to roll good.

Dont mess with the Guard! That would be an epic large scale display to see. A guardsman sending a wounded Abaddon kicking and screaming in humiliation back to the warp where he will be teased nonstop

"That for all the Emperor's love of his space marines, his ultimate creation - he was in fact nearly killed by one of them, only to be saved by a mere mortal with a 5+ save and a flashlight."

A few games ago, we were doing a 1 on 1 on 1, Me(eldar) VS Marines vs Tau. The Tau had kroot on an objective in a forest, and I had a single dire avenger left. it was the Space Marines turn, and I asked him not to shoot my Dire Avenger, that I had something funny planned. He agreed.

My lone dire avenger charged into a group of 20 kroot, and scored two wounds. The kroot, all 20 of them, failed to get an actual wound (7 wounds, 7 saves. Go figure).

The Kroot break, and my DA cuts down the entire squad.

I think he's certainly right up there at the top of the list of best HQs.

...I might just go buy me an abbadon, simply to model a guard sarge with his chainsword buried in abby's head. Rah!

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.

Not a 40k, but WHFB to be sure.

I had a unit of 3 trolls wiped to a man (err....beast) and was charged by a Dragon with 2 Wounds left. My Troll, who passed his Ld check, begins to vomit on the Dragon continuously. After missing my troll after 3 turns, my Troll vomits once more, killing the Dragon.

Gross, but hilarious nonetheless.

i once had asurmen charged by round about 30 necron warriors and a necron lord, and they did nothing to him, whilst he killed 1/2, then chased them all down, forcing the necrons to phase out

Had a Planetstrike game the other day where I had shot a fully tooled-up melee Carnifex (T7, 2+, Regen, etc) all to hell, but he still had a wound left. He charged a barebones 5-man Marine squad, where he promptly got killed by a rifle butt before he got to attack. I laughed as my opponent died a little inside.

Kind of reminds me of the time where my Dark Angels venerable dreadnought got in a 1 on 1 battle with Abaddon. For two rounds Abaddon rolled real well and removed both weapons from the dreadnought. However, for 4 rounds of melee in a row, I caused one wound with my gimped dread, and Abaddon whiffed his attacks. He failed every save, and Jango the dreadnought killed him in single combat.

It was my first game with the new ork dex, I charged an uber carnifex, T8, +2 save, the works, with 8 orks trying to act as a speed bump, so I could bring around a large unit with a klaw to slay the beastie. I caused 5 wounds, and my opponent managed to fail all of his saves. Thank god for furious charge and statistical improbability.

That is hilarious.

Ive had a few rather epic slays in my days. One was chaos dred(me) vs. SM dred. They go at it in CC, and SM dred just kicks the pooh out of mine. Immobilized it, and destroyed everything but one storm bolter. His dred leaves, mine shoots at the rear and blows the SM dred to pieces. My god it was a perfect end to 3 rounds of battle.

I had a cracked out demon prince kicking the piss out of same SM army.(different game tho) tore threw a devastator squad, assault squad a dred and then into a bike squad. Killed everything in the squad but a chaplain on a bike. That chaplain held the DP in CC for the rest of the game. I couldnt do a THING to that guy. Ive never seen so many 6's in my life
