Skyshield Landing Platform has me wondering.

If a building can only hold 1 unit...How can a unit disembark from a valkyrie, onto the landing pad?

A new day, a new time zone.

Because it's not a building. It's a piece of terrain with special rules.

Hi Just posted on warseer about the same question.
But if it doesn't count as a building then you can not use strategem "void shield", something a lot of people seem to do, incl. AAR from White Dwarf if not mistaken.
In the strategem it says specifically that it can be used for buildings.

Thus the following reasoning by me (from my warseer posting):

Hi!

I have a rules question for you all.
In our Planetstrike games we have a Skyshield landing Pad.
My question is whether this objective counts as a building or not.

Because, many use the strategem combination of Void Shield and Landing Pad.
However, the Void shield can only be used for "buildings" thus it would be seem as if it counts as a building.
Further, it has an armour value, and it is not a vehicle, it thus indicates further that it is a building.

So far so good.

Now, with a building usually comes the ability to house a single unit (infantry only, if you follow the rule book).
Is the landing pad considered a building so that it can house a unit?
I would rule "no", as it doesn't have a defined "capacity" to house a unit.
But then again buildings usually don't have an expressed "capacity".
However, it has the actual landing pad which is like a single surface, or roof with a parapet if you want.

Can the landing pad have multiple units on the landing pad?
A regular building cannot according to the 40k rule book.
Would you say that this is a special case of a building where it is defined as:
- Building
- Armour value
- Capacity=0
- "Roof"/Pad where multiple units can be as they are not "in" the building
(same as you may have multiple units under the "landing pad")

That would solve:
1) Yes, you can use the Void shield strategem
2) Yes, you may have multiple units on there, like a vendetta and a disembarked unit

As a house rule, we play that units under or on the landing pad receive damage according to the rulebook for troops in a vehicle (pinning, or S4 attack).

Would be interesting to hear your views on the landing pad and to learn more about how you play concerning it.

Thanks in advance,
gustmic

Use your imagination!
Some players may want to use a very large building, such as a fortress, Which could include towers, battlments, bunkers and so one, each with different capacities adn Armour Values. You may simply want to deploy a unit inside a building and another on the roof. You may even want to come up with rules for jump packers assaulting enemies on parapets. Inventing extra rules like this is great fun, and will make for a very different game. Players will have to agree before the game how will models move between two adjoining elements, and other details.......

It's not a building. Buildings are enclosed structures.

The real question is, of course, what happens if you have two of them connected by Space Corridors and surrounded by Industrial Towers.

I don't think that could happen. For a start, you'd have to find somewhere to buy said Space Corridors and Industrial Towers. I, for one, am not aware of any sellers of such things.

I do believe good Canine of Conflict, that one would be able to purchase said Space Corridors and Industrial Towers from a upstanding company that trades under the name of Litko Aerosystems.

I agree good fellow. As I understand it, one cannot find Space Corridors and Industrial Towers of a higher quality from any of Litko Aerosystems Competitors, nor do Citadel Miniatures make anything comparable!

Thanks all.
I thus conclude that the Landing pad is not to be considered a building and that the strategem "Void Shield" cannot be applied to a Landing Pad as Void Shield requires a building to be applied to.

Thanks,

Looks to me as though it is made from several Pegasus Gothic building kits (very solid and not as bling-ed as the GW CoD equivalents and a lot easier to assemble into corners). I have a couple of sets of these myself. They were a welcome change from the GW stuff which was (IMNSHO) too covered in skulls and spiky bits.

GW have to put Skulls with Skulls on their Skulls because otherwise it wouldn't be GRIMDARK™

Building, advertising and marketing Space Corridors is no joke. It would take a company like Litko Aerosystems to take such a risk.

Add to that the fabrication and distribution of Industrial Towers... well, then it really is srs bsns.
