Round One - Space Marines - Lysander/Shrike
His list involved an LRC w/ Lysander and 5 Assault Termies, 3 Rhino/Tac Squads, 3 Attack Bikes, 2 Whirlwinds, An Assault Squad Accompanied by Shrike, and 2 Podded Dreads.

This game started off with the Space Marine player winning the roll for first turn. The Objectives on his side of the table were in the center of his deployment zone and in the far right corner from me. I set my two objectives in the center of my deployment zone and 12" left on center. I did not seize the initiative.

Turn 1a - He moved Everything forward 12 inches with the exception of his whirlwinds. His first pod came in just short of midfield and failed to kill anything with the assault cannon Dreadnought. His whirlwinds managed to kill a single raider with warriors inside.

Turn 1b - I moved my ravagers into position to ensure a kill on the attack bikes and the Dreadnought. Boosted forward with 3 raiders to go to work on his backfield in the following turn. I moved my 2 mobile warrior squads into midfield to see what I could do to the LRC. In shooting I managed to kill the attack bikes, stun the LRC and kill the Dread. I was unable to hurt the backfield due to night fighting.

Turn 2a - His LRC was unable to move so he advanced forward with his rhino's. He rolled for reserves and his second dread came in but not Shrike and company. His terminators got out of their LRC with Lysander and advanced forward. They successfully assaulted a Raider of wyches, while hitting on sixes and exploded the vehicle. The unit within was pinned. His LRC fired its Assault Cannon using PMS and was rewarded with an immobilized result on one of my raiders containing wyches. His second dreadnought was able to immobilize and weapon destroy another raider with warriors in it. His rhino mounted tac squads tried to shoot down raiders and were able to get through one of the turbo boosted raiders cover saves, exploding the vehicle and killing 5 of the wyches that were inside.

Turn 2b - This turn proved to be decisive. I was able to break the other dread. with firing from a single warrior squads blaster. I followed this up with an immobilized result on the LRC from 2 raiders firing on it. As it was out of position to contest any objectives I proceeded to ignore it for the remainder of the game. Lelith's squad dismounted from its raider but flubbed its fleet roll and was left in cover but unable to assault, even with its 12" drugs. The remaining raiders which turbo boosted to the far side dismounted and were able to break rhino's open and then assault the marines within. I moved forward the remaining wyches and was able to avoid the Terminators.

Turn 3a - His firing was insufficient to kill off the remaining dismounted and unengaged models. Shrike came on and his squad was able to kill Lelith's entire retinue with flamers. They then assaulted her and caused no wounds. Lelith was able to kill several and stayed locked in combat.

Turn 3b - My wych squads assaulted the un engaged tactical squad and at this point I was sitting on a 1 to 0 objective advantage. During my turn one of my wych squads managed to flub their rolls miserably in close combat and they took off running. This allowed him to consolidate onto one objective and tie the score at one objective to 0.

Turn 4a - His shooting was able to down two more raiders and 2 ravagers and he was able to locate his marines in such a way as to take a 2 to 1 objective advantage. At this point we were down to about 20 minutes in the round. Unfortunately for him he no longer had enough marines to keepp my raiders from turbo boosting and contesting the points he had taken.

Turn 4b I turbo boosted the remaining raiders to contest the objectives he held and retained the one I had.

Summary - I won the battle with a Major Victory. I held one objective but had given up more kill points than I had taken. I also had one bonus point because Lelith was still alive and locked in combat with Shrike.

Round Two - Witch Hunters w/ IG Allies
His list included 2 Vet squads walking, 3 Leman Russ variants, 2 Exorcists, 3 Immolators. He was also allying a DH Inquisitor with a retinue to let him shoot at any deepstriking armies. He also had a cannoness with jump pack.

Deployment - I lost the game here. I won the roll and elected to go first. I deployed nothing due to the night fighting with the intention of flying on 24" on the first turn to protect my raiders. He also chose to deploy nothing.

Turn 1a - I turbo boosted forward 24 inches. It is important to note that the center of the table we were playing on was full of ruins. They were not spaced sufficiently for me to boost forward a full 24 inches there so I boosted forward on a spread line across the middle of the table, this would come back to haunt me.

Turn 1b - He chose to roll on in the far left corner. He bunched his forces very effectively and was able to deny half of my raiders the ability to reach them on the next turn.

Turn 2a - I boosted forward with the raiders which were out of position. And moved forward to begin shooting with my blasters in addition to my Lances. My firing broke several rhinos and 2 immolators.

Turn 2b - His firing was devastating. He destroyed 5 Raiders, pinning 2 squads of wyches due to my poor rolling on their leadership. He was then able to kill another squad of warriors with flamers.

The remainder of this game was me moving forward and destroying vehicles and him continuing to shoot up my raiders. By the end of the game I had broken every vehicle he owned with the exception of the Russes. I ended up losing by 4 kill points for a minor loss. I scored a single bonus point because I had more scoring units in his deployment zone than he did. At this point I was pretty sure I was out of the running.

Round Three - Black Templar
His list was one LRC with Blessed Hull, 1 Demolisher, 2 Dreadnoughts, 2 Walking squads of 18, he was fielding an Emporers Champion, a Grand Marshall and 2 more squads in Rhinos. And finally some kind of outflanking unit.

Unfortunately at this point I had a ridiculous headache and I dont remember the exact order of how things happened.

At the end of the game I held one point and he held none. His LRC was exploded. All of his other transports were broken and his HQ's were dead. His Vindicator was destroyed and one of his Dreadnoughts was immobilized/weapon destroyed.

I scored a Major Victory in this game with a single bonus point for having my HQ alive and all of his dead.

I finished in 3rd place with a total of 44 Points. I was 4 points ahead of the 4th place finisher. The players who finished ahead of me were the first place finisher SM army and the second place finisher Sisters of Battle army.

I was fairly happy with the army but was quite disappointed with my play. I made mistakes all over the place and generally did not play well. However you live and learn and hopefully I will be able to perform better at the regionals. I generally feel that dark eldar performs best against MEQ armies. Looking at the list of armies which won I am encouraged to see so many MEQ armies advancing to the regionals. If there is anything more anyone would like to know I will try my best to answer any questions.

I'll second that, I'm curious to see how the Cult fared vs. Black Templar in 5th.

A couple of suggestions if I may. I would strongly recommend getting nightshields on all your raiders, this helps negate shots from bolters, heavy bolters, assault cannons and the like early in the game and melta and rapid fire weapons later on. I would also suggest giving one of your squads (dracite's perhaps), the Goblet of Spite. With GW's new errata on how what items effect your enemy and so on, it now only works on your units. You could get the points from dropping a wyche from each squad and maybe dropping haywires from 1 squad as well.

Gardeth - I always appreciate feedback. I adjusted the list a bit for the semi's. I actually dropped the Haywire's from this list and have added night shields to all of the raiders in the list. I may consider a goblet of spite, seems amazing now that I consider that bit of errata.

DE are actually a good army list to take to regionals IMO. KP's are a uphill battle sometimes but in the right hands could do well.
