Played with my 2500pt NGs last night and almost tabled a WOC all cav army (2 x5 chaos hound units hiding in forests in his deployment zones).
Highlight of the game was...
Giant charges 2 knights (MON), standard and muso and a Chaos Lord on chaos steed which is all that is left of a big CK unit that had earlier bounced off a unit of NG spears.
Giant rolls to attack....
Pick up and... I choose one of the knights and he rolls a 1 to hit. I then roll a for PICK ANOTHER!... and into the giant's pants he goes.
I then choose the chaos lord and he rolls a 2 to hit. I then roll another for PICK ANOTHER!... down the pants he goes.
I then go for the last knight and rhe rolls a 1 to hit, and I roll a third for PICK ANOTHER!... into the pants he goes and I then overrun into a fleeing unit of dragon ogres sending them racing accross the table to within 2 inches of his table edge.
So the giant then wanders around the table for the next 2 turns with 2 knights and a mtd chaos lord in his pants.
Also I had 2 units of short bows NGs (30 each). Not including the fanatic wounds they did
The final wound on a chaos giant (they did 3 but he had 1 left),
Killed a chaos ogre with shooting, then beat 3 chaos ogres in combat and chased them off (but didn't catch them)
Killed a MOK chaos hero BSB on chaos steed by taking his last wound with shooting.
Did a wound with shooting on a dragon ogre...
Brilliant...

I find it more amazing you didn't fail an animosity test and subsequently lose the game... roll a 1 lose the game right? Or did you fail an animosity test and just are refusing to tell us about it.
Also hillarious story.
I had a Bone giant go into turbo khorne mode when I charged a unit of chaos knights of khorne. 23 wounds, it was sickfun. that one last dice just kept going and goin and goin. It was like the energizer bunny for like 8 straight wounds.

I failed a few animosity tests, and also gained a few inopportune Waaaghs! along the way (when I wanted to hold back).
Biggest mistake was realising that I had forgotten to roll for skarsnik at the start of the game to see which enemy units wouldn't turn up.
We did it in turn 2 to see what would have happened and a level 2 scorceerer, unit of chaos knights, mtd marauder unit, BSB and 3 dragon ogres would have been off table. :(

My favorite so far is the comet of Cassandora I cast at the top of turn 1 didn't come down until the bottom of turn 5. Yes, I rolled under 4+ SEVEN times. The comet landed, hit something like a 42" diameter circle, though laughably killed, at most, a score models all told (this was lizardmen vs. warriors of chaos, 2000 points so no shortage of units but some pretty stalwart infantry).
It got to the point where by turn 3 or 4, my opponent and I were calling the whole FLGS over to watch as I rolled for the comet every turn. We got the crowd going pretty good, it's the only reason I didn't call the comet off by turn 4 when I knew I'd hit as much of mine as I did his.

AMAZING work with that giant Gonads, totally excellent I posted this under another thread, but I'll repeat it because it's still my happiest moment using my ogre hunter. Playing DE with a cauldron, and before the game I mused aloud what the chances of harpooning the death hag out of the cauldron would be (5/324 or 1.5% ) ... Turn 5 comes around and the hunter takes the shot. 4+ to hit, 5+ to randomize to crew, 5+ to randomize to death hag, 2+ to wound her, 1-3 for her to fail her ward, 3+ to kill her out right. Made them all, except the 2 for D3 wounds. Still awesome - Salvage

just using the BfSK box stuff, had a duel going on in the middle between troll and dragon slayer, lasted til the final turn when my slayer finally clove the troll in two. Placing his bare buttocks balanced precariously over the downed trolls face i thought that was good enough...
Now the NG shamanhad been inneffectually throwing fireballs all game, not wounding anything. Having seen the bosses fav pet troll go down he takes a shot, maximum range (point of dispute there *grumble*) scorches my celebrating semi naked dwarf on the spot. Dammit. Not particularly epic but in one of the first WFB i played, it gave me a sense of the irony/hilarity that can occur in these games.

I played Morghor for quite a while.
For anyone who hasn't played this guy, he's like the Deceiver of Fantasy, in terms of having endless rules that no one else has.
Basically he's a Beast of Chaos special character, who's a giant spawn. He makes other stuff, friendly or enemy, into spawn if they are nearby.
Amusing Morghor moments (The common feature is that I didn't brief my foe on Morghor pre-game. In my defense, I lost most of my games with him.):
Up against a dwarf gunline, the other player elects to blast Morghor before I get going. He aims a plethora of cannons, I think 3, with runes of doom on them, and a stonethrower or two. He guesses his ranges. He's on target...a wave of hurtling doom, enough to kill 2 thirsters, comes hurtling Morghor's way....and I reveal that anything beyond 8" can't damage Morghor. Seriously, he's got this ancient rule that says that if you shoot a cannonball or whatever from far off it turns into butterflies, mutates out of existence. He loses his whole warmachine shooting phase shooting at an invincible special char.
Up against a Wood Elf player, he stacks the board with forests. I mean, they are just everywhere. I don't mind, cuz I'm BoC, and we also like forests. He puts down his extra forest. Then he loads all these woods with elves. Then the game begins. He goes to move a guy and I request a fear test. He's like "WTF?", and I tell him Morghor makes woods cause fear to the enemies. It wasn't as devastating as it could have been, as he was using mostly forest spirits, but the idea of Wood Elves dreading the Woods cracked me up.
Up against a High Elf player, top of 1, he goes to cast some big spell, miscasts, rolls double 3's. And I'm like...dude's a spawn. If you roll doubles on the miscast table vs. Morghor your guy is a spawn. So, top of 1, his Lord Wizard becomes a 3 wound spawn, in combat with a phalanx of Elven pikemen. They take like 3 rounds of combat to kill their erstwhile general.
|
All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

This happened to me with a Lv. 4 Orc Great Shaman last edition. First spell of the first magic phase of the game, miscasts then explodes. 300 pts. down the pipe. Still won due to some gritty gobbo tactics though.

There must be somethng truly fearsome in a giant's pants to incapacitate large spiky Nurgle followers and their barded horses.
I always get 'Grab Another' rolls when fighting pathetic units like Slaves that have passed their Terror test or similar. Giants are always fun though. I once got off four VERY successful 'Jump Up And Down' attacks against an out of control block of 30 skeletons with my Slaanesh Giant, before finally failing the 'Falls Over' test and demolishing the Vampire Lord in the unit. Always Strikes First is great.

My biggest moment was in 40k, but im gonna post it anyway. I`m playing againt this really cheesy eldar list, and the first shooting phase destroys half his army. I opened fire with a tac scuad on his wg and got 10 out of fifteen dices!! I kill all off them, and in the combat phase he charge his wraithlord into my termins and my cap kills it before it gets to strike!! EPIC!!
By turn 4 he had lost his entire army, i had lost 3 marines, 1 termin and a rhino
|
My death will be avenged millions of rapid fire las bolts, followed by a plethora of heavy weapons artillery and other colorful assortments of death that will send chaos crying back to the warp where they will remain until they come up with another one of their "original" plans

Mundane warhorses are pretty clutch. I watched a Bretonnian player going against a DoC player in this last round of 'Ard Boyz. I kept reminding him- don't forget to roll your horses' attack- you never know. Well his Knight Errant champion's horse executed a Bloodthirster with 1 wound left, and his General's horse killed of what's-his-name the two headed bird thing of excessive magic.
We took a photo of a face down Bloodthirster (the forgeworld model) with a tiny little horse standing on top to commemorate.
