Getting ready to fly down to Fla. for the Necro next week, and thought I'd post my list.

Not much I can do to change the list now, but any thoughts for some changes for the following tournament are more than welcome!


1850 IG:

HQ: Company Command, with Regimental Standard, 3x melta-guns, 2x bodyguards
Led by Col. Ironhand Straken
Chimera Transport with Multi-laser and Heavy Flamer, extra armor

Troop: 1st Platoon
Platoon command: Lt. has a powerfist, 4x flamers
Chimera Transport with Multi-laser and Heavy Flamer, extra armor

1st Sqd/ Sgt. has a Powerweapon, Auto-cannon, and a Flamer
2nd Sqd/ Sgt. has a Powerweapon, Auto-cannon, and a Flamer
Heavy Weapons Squad with 3x las-cannons
Special Weapons Squad with 3x Melta-guns

Troo: 2nd Platoon
Platoon command: Lt. has a Powerweapon, 4x flamers
Chimera Transport with Multi-laser and Heavy Flamer, extra armor
1st Sqd/ Sgt. has a Powerweapon, Auto-cannon, and a Flamer
2nd Sqd/ Auto-cannon and flamer
Special Weapons Squad with 3x plasma guns

Troop: Vet Squad
Led by Harker

1850 total.

I have 3 Chimera Transports, 1 for each command, these are usually assigned as follows, Straken's is usually assigned to the Plasma gunner squad, 1st Platoon cmd, rides in thiers and the Melta squad typically uses 2nd platoons Chimera.

Straken and the other Platoon cmd, issue orders to the line squads, while the Vet Squad with Harker and the Scout Sentinels are my Flanking units.

So what do you all think?

-Don't give normal sergeants power weapons.
-I'd drop Straken if you're not planning on getting close and the Regimental standard if you are
-Drop the Hull LCs and extra armour to upgrade them to Demolishers or Executioners (drop an Armoured sentinel or Scout Sentinel in order to do this)
-Drop the Special Weapon Squad (you might as well just have a Vet squad-they're better and have more guys)
-Don't get HWSs (get more normal squads and put the weapons in them)

Thanks for the imput, good points on all counts.

I originally had the Power weapons on the regular Sgts. because of Straken's ability to give Counter charge, and Furious Charge, but I am finding I don't use either much.

Straken has mainly been in the list to hold my lines together and to act as an Uber-counter charge unit, which has been working well, but he does cost alot. I am going to seriously consider dropping him for something else.

I see what you mean by either Mech or infantry spam, my list seems to be trying to do both. To be honest, in the practice games I have had so far, I have been fairing pretty well. But I see where dropping the Heavy Weapons and special weapon squads along with Straken can get me quite a few more squads and even a couple more Chimera Transports to boot.

I am going to rework this list a bit...

Good to hear you're faring okay. Straken can work but you need to make the squad compeltely geared towards CC, otherwise he'll be a bunch of scrap-metal in no time.

Extra armour looks odd on those APCs and tanks (I think it's overpriced) and the leman russes don't need lascannons (again, overpriced)

Sentinels: I would really prefer outflanking scout (2 squads of 2) sentinels with autocannons and HK missiles, or just autocannons, or lascannons, whatever. But plasma cannon armoured sentinels are expensive for what's still a single weapon, and HFs are too short-ranged.

Hey Thanks! less than a week away now!

I think I put the extra armor on the tanks more out of habit than cost effectivness, that and the fact I only have 3 chimera right now, and I didnt want them freezing up on me at a bad time, I think when I rework the list, I will definately drop the extra armor in favor of an extra transport.

The Las Cannons on the Russes actually came about because I was finding the reverse to be true in my games. I had a couple of Lascannons on the infantry squads and heavy bolters on the hulls of the main battle tanks and found that I was often wasting the entire squad of infantry for the sake of 1 Las cannon, so I swapped them for Auto cannons across the board and put the las cannons on the tanks to maintain some anti-tank fire power. There was nothing more frustrating to me than for the only real target for a russ to be a big piece of armor and to only have the battle cannon. I may change it back though as I see your point.
